Bullet, weapon provided with such bullets, kit for assembling the same, and corresponding methods of manufacturing, operating and use associated thereto
The present disclosure concerns a bullet (1) configured to be propelled by a blast of a cartridge, the bullet comprising a main body (3) provided with an internal body cavity (7) and having a frontward section and a rearward section provided with an opening in fluid communication with the internal body cavity, the internal body cavity by means of the opening being capable of recovering a portion of gun gas resulting from the blast of the cartridge. The present disclosure further comprises a weapon having such a bullet, and a method for reducing drag from a bullet propelled out of a barrel of a weapon.
EXPLOSIVELY DRIVEN FRAGMENT LAUNCHER AND A METHOD FOR EXPLOSIVELY LAUNCHING A FRAGMENT AT A TARGET
Disclosed techniques relate to fragment launching. In an example, a fragment launcher has a casing, a launch aperture and a detonation position. An inner profile of the casing tapers from the main body towards the fragment launch aperture and from the main body to the detonation position. A fragment is held within the launch aperture such that when in use an explosive charge can be initiated to launch the fragment from the launcher. The launcher is particularly suited to uses where there is a requirement to launch a fragment in a consistent and repeatable manner.
Handgun cartridge
Devices and methods for an 8 mm or .32 caliber semiautomatic handgun cartridge providing a reduced form factor for carrying a greater number of rounds in a smaller space while maintaining ballistic performance.
FIREARM CARTRIDGE CASE
A firearm cartridge case includes a cartridge case having a base which defines a cartridge case diameter; and a rebated rim which defines a rim diameter less than the cartridge case diameter, a ratio of the cartridge case diameter to the rim diameter is between 1.03-1.10.
Projectile with enhanced ballistics
The present invention provides a projectile device and a method of manufacture of a projectile device and in particular to a pistol bullet and a rifle bullet and method of manufacture of the same. In one embodiment, the projectile apparatus has a cylindrical body portion having a diameter, a front nose section tapering from a most proximal point of the projectile to the cylindrical body portion, and a rear tail section connected to the body portion and extending to the most distal point of the projectile, in which the front nose portion comprises a plurality of twisting depressions forming troughs.
Method for making precision rifle ammunition with more uniform external ballistic performance and enhanced terminal ballistic performance
A method for making an improved projectile 360, 460 by defining a discontinuity, groove or trough in a distal ogive section of the projectile to provide an external ballistic. effect uniforming surface feature (e.g., nose ring groove 369, 469) which makes an unsupported gap in the ogive profile that beneficially affects the flow of air over the front half of the ogive. The improved bullet's external surface discontinuity feature (369 or 469) creates effects in the flowfield that dominate any dynamic effects from bullet-to bullet manufacturing inconsistency and resultant differences in dynamic behavior.
Deep groove projectile with leading convex surface followed by abrupt angle surface
A firearm projectile is provided to promote a yaw effect on material entry by the projectile and to enhance wound channel formation on entered material. The firearm projectile comprises an elongated body, having a surface formed as a surface of revolution. It further consists of an ovoid forward portion and a cylindrical rear portion.
Cartridge with improved penetration and expansion bullet
A cartridge with a bullet has desirable penetration capabilities and controlled separation of components upon terminal impact. In embodiments of the invention, the bullet comprises a forward component, a lead core, and a copper jacket. The bullet having a forward nose portion with a plurality of cutaways spaced circumferentially about the nose portion. The copper jacket having a leading edge portion positioned at the cutaways.
Low energy cartridge
A low energy cartridge has a case having a sidewall with an interior surface defining a projectile receptacle along a bore axis and having a forward open case mouth, a projectile having an exterior sidewall closely received in the projectile receptacle and defining a rotational axis, a propellant receptacle defined by the case and having a passage communicating with the projectile receptacle, the projectile exterior sidewall being non-circular in cross section across the rotational axis, and the case sidewall interior surface having a rotational engagement feature configured to rotationally engage the non-circular projectile exterior sidewall. The projectile may be slidably received in the projectile receptacle for propulsion from the forward open case mouth. At least one of the projectile and the sidewall interior surface may have a helical surface feature, such that spin is imparted to the projectile upon propulsion from the case.
Diffuser for polymer ammunition cartridges
The present invention provides a diffuser cup adapted to fit a primer recess in an ammunition cartridge comprising: a diffuser ring sized to fit in a primer recess for an ammunition cartridge comprising a diffuser top surface opposite a diffuser bottom surface, a diffuser aperture positioned through the diffuser top surface and the diffuser bottom surface such that the diffuser aperture can align with a flash hole, a diffuser neck positioned about the diffuser aperture to extend away from the diffuser top surface, wherein the diffuser neck is sized to fit at least partially through the flash hole; a ring connected to the diffuser neck, wherein the ring comprises a ring aperture connected to the diffuser neck to align the ring aperture and the diffuser aperture; and a cup wall attached to the diffuser ring to extend away from the diffuser bottom surface, wherein the cup wall is configured to frictionally fit a primer and frictionally fit a primer recess.
