A sabot having an extended casing for containing propellant charge and a slotted top portion for securing a projectile. The propellant charge is ignited by gases that enter the lower portion of the sabot from a puncture developed by the mating of the sabot against a breech plug. The breech plug has a piercing component in the form of a sharpened forward edge to initiate puncture of the breech end of the sabot.

Combustible munition case with cell cavities

The present invention is directed to composite munition cases that burn without significant residue, rugged enough to withstand rough handling, and provides for additional burn rate control over current state of the art metal and combustible munition cases. The munition cases disclose herein utilizes combustible composite materials having an inner and outer walls connected by support structures. The support structures can be radial walls or honeycomb shaped cells. In another embodiment wedge elements assembled into a cylindrical munition case is also proposed. Exemplary composite materials include felted fiber, foam celluloid and polystyrene.

CARTRIDGE WITH IGNITER CORDS

The invention relates to a cartridge having a projectile secured to a case that contains a propelling charge and closed by a base. A device for igniting the propelling charge has at least two energetic igniter cords that extend between an initiating means secured to a rear part of the case and the projectile. In this cartridge, the cords are joined at their rear part so as to form a strand, and they are fastened by at least one fastening means secured to the cartridge, the strand being connected to the initiating means by a packing gland making it possible to immobilize the cords both radially and axially relative to the initiating means while keeping the cords tight between their fastening means and the initiating means.

Caseless projectile

Disclosed herein is a caseless projectile, in which a bullet head and a projectile body structure are fixedly arranged with each other. The caseless projectile can be fired in a barrel without a step of discharging the case; further, the caseless projectile's projectile bottom has a plurality of blade-shaped score lines. When fired, the score line are transformed into a plurality of nozzle structures by the impact force, so that the high-pressure gas generated by the burning of powder is ejected through the nozzle structures, further offering the caseless projectile a rotational torque and achieving the effect of accurate firing without rifling.
