Method for making precision rifle ammunition with more uniform external ballistic performance and enhanced terminal ballistic performance
A method for making an improved projectile 360, 460 by defining a discontinuity, groove or trough in a distal ogive section of the projectile to provide an external ballistic. effect uniforming surface feature (e.g., nose ring groove 369, 469) which makes an unsupported gap in the ogive profile that beneficially affects the flow of air over the front half of the ogive. The improved bullet's external surface discontinuity feature (369 or 469) creates effects in the flowfield that dominate any dynamic effects from bullet-to bullet manufacturing inconsistency and resultant differences in dynamic behavior.
Projectile with Enhanced Ballistics
The present invention provides a projectile device and a method of manufacture of a projectile device and in particular, to a pistol bullet and a rifle bullet and method of manufacture of same. In one embodiment, the projectile apparatus has a cylindrical body portion having a diameter, a front nose section tapering from a most proximal point of the projectile to the cylindrical body portion, and a rear tail section connected to the body portion and extending to the most distal point of the projectile, in which the front nose portion comprises a plurality of twisting depressions forming troughs.

Enhanced projectile, cartridge and method for creating precision rifle ammunition with more uniform external ballistic performance and enhanced terminal ballistic performance
A projectile 360, 460 includes a body having a distal ogive section with external ballistic effect uniforming surface discontinuity (e.g., nose ring groove 369, 469) defined therein to provide an unsupported gap in the ogive profile which affects the flow of air over the front half of the ogive to provide greater aerodynamic uniformity and shot-to-shot consistency with more uniform observed external ballistics and superior terminal ballistics. The bullet's external surface discontinuity feature (369 or 469) creates effects in the flowfield that dominate any dynamic effects from bullet-to-bullet manufacturing inconsistency and resultant differences in dynamic behavior.
Fuse with reversible airbrake
A fuse is provided with a reversible airbrake intended for a projectile, wherein the airbrake is arranged such that errors which occur in the flight path of the projectile can be corrected by performing one or more extensions and retractions of the airbrake. The airbrake includes at least two braking surfaces symmetrically arranged each behind a respective protective device arranged on the casing surface of the fuse, wherein the brake surfaces can be extended and retracted in a rotational direction behind the at least two protective devices via a twist shaft arranged centrally in the fuse.
Rifle cartridge with improved bullet upset and separation
A rifle cartridge with a bullet has desirable penetration capabilities and controlled separation of components upon terminal impact. In embodiments of the invention, the bullet comprises a forward component, a lead core, and a copper jacket. The lead jacket having a leading edge portion that extends to the cylindrical mid portion. The forward component may have a forward pointed ogive portion, a cylindrical mid portion, a mid ogive portion, and a pair of cylindrical portions separated by an annular groove. The jacket having a cannelure at the annular groove and the casing upper lip crimped into the cannelure.

Dynamic instability reduced range round
A multi-piece projectile for a small arm training ammunition round maintains stable flight until reaching transonic speeds. During transonic and subsonic flight, aerodynamic features located on the projectile generate a pressure differential to increase limit cycle motion of the projectile. The aerodynamic features are located on a portion of the projectile which does not interface with rifling elements of the gun barrel and may include protrusions in or extrusions from the projectile.
