The present invention provides a projectile device and a method of manufacture of a projectile device and in particular to a pistol bullet and a rifle bullet and method of manufacture of same. In one embodiment, the projectile apparatus has a cylindrical body portion having a diameter, a front nose section tapering from a most proximal point of the projectile to the cylindrical body portion, and a rear tail section connected to the body portion and extending to the most distal point of the projectile, in which the front nose portion comprises a plurality of twisting depressions forming troughs.

An expanding bullet having a one-piece structure has a cylindrical section and a section that is essentially shaped as a truncated cone, with the bullet tip being situated at the end of the latter section, which end faces away from the cylindrical section, and at least one planned breaking point being formed in this section, wherein the section shaped as a truncated cone is divided into segments and has a channel that has a mouth in the region of the bullet tip, wherein the channel has a bell-shaped widened region, which has its greatest diameter in the region of the transition from the cylindrical section to the section shaped as a truncated cone.

ENHANCED POLYMER MARKING PROJECTILE FOR NONLETHAL CARTRIDGE

Nonlethal cartridges adapted to be chambered in a firearm having a barrel that includes rifling are provided. In one example, the cartridge includes a cartridge case and a sabot that is telescopically coupled to the cartridge case and that has a sabot mouth. A projectile includes a polymer base projectile portion disposed in the sabot mouth. A polymer front shell projectile portion is coupled to the polymer base projectile portion and has an outer surface that includes a circular locking rib feature that forms an interference fit with the sabot mouth. The polymer base projectile portion is configured to engage the rifling of the barrel to impart spin stabilization to the nonlethal projectile when propelled from the sabot in response to the expansion of a propellant gas.

A small-caliber projectile having a length Lb, a forward ogive-shaped section, a rear generally cylindrical shaped section, a core, and a jacket generally surrounding the core. The core has a front/penetrator core portion and a soft/heavy rear core portion, wherein the front/penetrator core portion is made of a tungsten alloy and has a length Lp and the soft/heavy rear core portion is made of a lead alloy and has a length Lr and the ratio Lp to Lb is in the range of 0.2 to 0.5.

Ordnance Ballistics Deployment System

An electronics ordnance delivery system that has an electronics component encased within a potting material, which itself is within a housing exoskeleton. A deceleration sleeve receives the exoskeleton, and is designed to shear away during a bullet's entry into a target body such that the electronics component is successfully deployed and remains in the target even if a part of the bullet exits the target. The system also includes an outer jacket that is also designed to shear away. The system can include a core that assists in the deployment of the electronics ordnance within the target.

A wearable programming unit (WPU) (1 10, 1 10a-1 10b) for assisting a user deploy air burst munition (ABM, 10) from a rifle (20) in an intuitive manner Is described. The WPU has a ballistic processor (112), wireless communication channels (120), a vibrator (130), a display (130), a mode button (150) and up/down select buttons (160, 161). After an ABM is selected and loaded into the rifle, and a deployment distance entered in the WPU, the ballistic processor calculates and outputs a time of burst T and barrel angle alpha. The barrel angle alpha is received by a sighting unit (104) and appears as a target marker. Once the rifle is tilted and/or moved so that a centre of the sighting unit coincides with the target marker, the WPU vibrates as a signal to the user to trigger the rifle.

The present invention is directed to composite projectiles and the manufacture thereof for a wide range of purposes and applications through variation of the composite makeup of such composite projectiles. Embodiments of the invention include composite projectiles configured for manufacture using melt-flow manufacturing methods use-cases and composite projectiles having specialized performance for more effective use in specific use-cases.
