An explosive device contains a water-reactive material that ignites upon exposure to water. The water-reactive material ignites a water-activated fuse that has a predetermined burn rate and length. The predetermined burn rate and length allows the device to sink to a desired depth before exploding. Hence, the device explodes after a desired period of time and/or at a desired depth. Defense against underwater swimmers is an advantageous feature of embodiments of the disclosure. The device can use a forty millimeter (40 mm) form factor, which permits launch of the device from convention grenade launchers.

New projectiles specialized for creating and recovering trace evidence at a crime scene are provided. A wide variety of embodiments are provided, covering several use scenarios—including, but not limited to, home security devices, which may be built into an entryway or other building structure, and law enforcement guns. In some embodiments, a projectile within a projectile is provided, which fires in the direction of a primary impact. A sampler device is provided within some projectiles, which may comprise tracing barbs, containers for analytes and even a hypodermic extraction apparatus. In some embodiments, projectiles have rebounding devices, which may overlap with aspects of the sampler device, for developing distance from a criminal suspect. Other aspects, such as GPS, fasteners and defense mechanisms, are also disclosed, which encourage recovery by the authorized user and deter interception.

A targeting munition for a targeting system and method includes a payload including a plurality of shards. At least one of the shards includes a laser diode configured to emit targeting emission in response to the targeting munition impacting an area at or proximate to a target.

The invention relates to a Pb-free deforming/partially fragmenting projectile with a projectile body. In order to improve the killing effect of the projectile, the projectile has a fragmenting core according to the invention. The projectile body is equipped with a bore which is arranged on the longitudinal axis, extends from the tip of the projectile body, and extends into the interior, and the projectile body tip, which faces away from the projectile base has a bevel which extends from the outer circumference of the projectile body to the bore and runs at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis. The fragmenting core has a cylindrical part and a head part. The cylindrical part is arranged in the bore, and the head part protrudes out of the bore and has a support surface which is adapted to the bevel in the projectile body and together with the support surface rests on the bevel of the projectile body. The head part has a rounded tip which forms the tip of the projectile.

Container (10) is generally cylindrical except for a longitudinal concave groove (11) extending along its entire length. Upon explosion, the contour of this groove (11) results in a focussing effect on the wall material due to the oblique angle at which the expanding cylindrical detonation wave front impacts upon its inner wall. This produces the forging of a rough rod-like projectile (11.sub.1) which, being coherent, maintains its velocity and consequently travels much further than the randomly shaped projectiles (10.sub.1).

Mechanically attachable fletching is disclosed herein for a projectile having a shaft having an exterior surface. The mechanically attachable fletching includes at least one fin, a connection section bordering the at least one fin, and at least one mechanical fastener for attaching the fletching to the exterior surface of the shaft via the connection section. Also disclosed herein are methods for mechanically attaching fletching to the shaft of the projectile. Also disclosed herein are illuminated projectiles. Also described herein is a projectile having a shaft, a projectile head, and at least one fin. The projectile head preferably has a plurality of layers, the head end preferably being associated with the projectile head. Also described herein is a projectile that includes a shaft, a suction head, an outer head casing, and at least one fin. The suction head is preferably associated with the head end. The at least one launcher engager is preferably associated with the suction head. Two halves of the outer head casing preferably sandwich the suction head and the head end.

A digitally controlled hand-tossable explosive delivery receptacle comprises a ruggedized reusable compartment enclosing a digital circuit and a disposable cartridge holding one or more explosive chemical agents and a primer. The disposable cartridge is configured to be mounted to the ruggedized reusable cartridge, and a high-strength bulkhead incorporated into the reusable or disposable compartment that separates the digital circuit from the chemical agents. The reusable compartment is sufficiently ruggedized to withstand the ignition of the primer and the detonation of the chemical agents to be reused with one or more additional disposable cartridges. In one implementation, the delivery receptacle uses a commercial airbag initiator as the primer, which is arranged in relation to the one or more chemical agents so that when the initiator is activated, it generates a pressure wave that expels the one or more chemical agents from the grenade.

This invention relates to an game tracking arrow that includes an arrowhead having a tail end, a hollow shaft having a forward end and a rear end, a nock having a front end configured at rear end of the hollow shaft and a back end configured to engage a bowstring, and a tracking device having a first end configured at tail end of the arrow head and a second end configured at forward end of the hollow shaft. A scent emitting dart for dispersing an olfactant in the target area without having to physically enter the target area includes an elongated, textured shaft member that has a proximal end and a distal end, a tip member which includes a weighted portion and a tip portion integral with the distal end, and a scent carrying fletching integral having a plurality of absorbent vanes adjacent to the proximal end. The absorbent vanes both extend outwardly from the circumference of the shaft member to provide aerodynamic stabilization and also extend behind the shaft member to both increase the olfactant absorption capacity of the fletching and provide an accessible point of concentration for applied olfactant. In this regard, as the olfactant is emitted from the fletching, a hunted animal can be drawn thereto.
