MUZZLELOADER SYSTEMS

Muzzleloader systems include a pre-packaged propellant charge and primer for providing efficient loading and unloading of the muzzleloader. The muzzleloader accepts in the breech end the propellant containment vessel that abuts against a constriction portion with a reduced diameter portion. The propellant containment vessel having an end portion with a tapered surface that conforms to the constriction portion surface. A projectile is inserted in the muzzle end and seats against the constriction portion. The propellant containment vessel may be received in a removable breech plug. The constriction portion may be part of the breech plug or a separate component secured in the barrel by way of the breech plug. The containment vessel further comprises a primer mechanism that may be integrated into the proximal end of the containment vessel.

Fragmentation device with increased surface hardness and a method of producing the same

A method of modifying material properties of a fragmentation device, includes providing a fragmentation device with a first surface, a first section, a second section, a second surface spaced apart from the first surface, a third section, and a fourth section disposed between the first, second, and third sections. The method further includes positioning the fragmentation device within a carbon-rich environment, and absorbing carbon from the carbon-rich environment into the first and second surfaces of the fragmentation device. Additionally, the method further includes increasing a content of carbon at the first and second surfaces of 0.06 wt. % carbon to 1.0 wt. % carbon and maintaining an original content of carbon of 0.01 wt. % carbon to 0.05 wt. % carbon at the fourth section of the fragmentation device by controlling penetration of the carbon into the fourth section.

GUIDED PROJECTILE AND METHOD OF ENABLING GUIDANCE THEREOF

A guided projectile that includes a warhead case, a cartridge case coupled to the warhead case, and a tail kit assembly positioned within the cartridge case. The tail kit assembly includes a hollow casing including a plurality of fin slots defined therein, a control fin selectively extendable from within the hollow casing through each fin slot of the plurality of fin slots, and a fin slot cover positioned within each fin slot with a minimum clearance fit such that the control fin is retained within the hollow casing. The fin slot cover is releasable from within each fin slot such that the control fin is deployable therethrough.

Rounded Projectiles for Target Disruption

Provided are methods and related devices for disrupting an explosive device using a propellant driven disrupter (PDD) that propels a rounded projectile (RP) toward an explosive device. The RP travels along a linear trajectory and impacts the target, including a barrier portion of the explosive device. The impacting between the RP and barrier forms a composite projectile via a solid state weld between a portion of the barrier and the RP distal end, thereby minimizing or avoiding spall and fragment generation into the explosive device. The projectile traverses a penetration distance along the linear trajectory, or a defined-angle relative thereto, to disrupt the explosive device without unwanted explosive detonation.

The present invention relates to a bullet. More particularly, the present invention relates to a bullet including concentric and sequentially ordered cylindrical fore, intermediate and aft portions. The aft portion comprises a cross-sectional diameter about equal to the diameter measured across the rifle landings of the riffled barrel operatively to create a gas pressure build up there-behind while the rifling grooves and lands deform and/or cut the aft portion thereby to impart spin to the bullet about the central axial axis thereof. The intermediate portion comprises a cross-sectional diameter smaller than that of the aft portion, which acts as a bearing surface for operatively riding along the rifling lands thereby to inhibit yawing of the bullet while operatively travelling through the rifled barrel. The fore portion comprises a cross-sectional diameter smaller than that of the intermediate portion with an annular stamping surface, for operatively providing a clean cut circular hunting wound, located at or near an interface between the fore and intermediate portions.

Polymer-based cartridge casing for subsonic ammunition

A high strength polymer-based cartridge having a first end; a neck disposed at the first end and a shoulder disposed below the neck to form a bottleneck cartridge. A second end is opposite the first end and an insert is engaged to the second end. A propellant chamber is formed between the shoulder and the insert and has a volume. An extension extends from the neck opposite the shoulder and a cap is formed on the extension, partially sealing the propellant chamber.
