System and method for detecting ground engaging tool float for an agricultural implement
In one aspect, a system for detecting ground engaging tool float for an agricultural implement may include an implement having a ground engaging tool pivotally coupled to a frame and a biasing element coupled between the frame and the ground engaging tool. The biasing element may be configured to bias the ground engaging tool to a predetermined ground engaging tool position relative to the frame. The system may also include a sensor configured to detect a parameter indicative of a current position of the ground engaging tool relative to the frame. Additionally, the system may include a controller configured to monitor the current position of the ground engaging tool based on measurement signals received from the sensor and identify a time period across which the ground engaging tool is displaced from the predetermined ground engaging tool position. The controller may be further configured to compare the identified time period to a threshold time period to determine when a ground engaging tool float event is occurring during operation of the implement.

WORK LAYER IMAGING AND ANALYSIS FOR IMPLEMENT MONITORING, CONTROL AND OPERATOR FEEDBACK
A soil imaging system having a work layer sensor disposed on an agricultural implement to generate an electromagnetic field through a soil area of interest as the agricultural implement traverses a field. A monitor in communication with the work layer sensor is adapted to generate a work layer image of the soil layer of interest based on the generated electromagnetic field. The work layer sensor may also generate a reference image by generating an electromagnetic field through undisturbed soil. The monitor may compare at least one characteristic of the reference image with at least one characteristic of the work layer image to generate a characterized image of the work layer of interest. The monitor may display operator feedback and may effect operational control of the agricultural implement based on the characterized image.
FRAME ADJUSTMENT CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POSITION
An agricultural machine includes a main frame, a rotate frame, and a row unit. A control method for the machine includes: selecting at least one of: (i) a desired position-based relationship between a portion of the rotate frame and the row unit, and (ii) a desired downforce of the row unit; determining at least one of: (i) an actual position-based relationship defined between the rearward portion of the rotate frame and the row unit, and (ii) an actual downforce of the row unit; and adjusting at least one of: (i) the actual position-based relationship toward the desired position-based relationship, and (ii) the actual downforce of the row unit toward the desired downforce of the row unit; wherein adjusting the actual position-based relationship and adjusting the actual downforce of the row both include moving the rotate frame relative to the main frame of the agricultural machine.
Row unit for agricultural implement
An agricultural row unit for use with a towing frame hitched to a tractor includes an attachment frame adapted to be rigidly connected to the towing frame, a linkage pivotably coupled to the attachment frame, and a row unit frame having a leading end pivotably coupled to the linkage to permit vertical pivoting movement of the row unit frame relative to the attachment frame. A hydraulic cylinder coupled to the attachment frame and the linkage, for urging the row unit frame downwardly toward the soil, includes a movable ram extending into the cylinder, and a hydraulic-fluid cavity within the cylinder for receiving pressurized hydraulic fluid for advancing the ram in a direction that pivots the linkage and the row unit frame downwardly toward the soil. An accumulator positioned adjacent to the hydraulic cylinder has a fluid chamber containing a diaphragm, with the portion of the chamber on one side of the diaphragm being connected to the hydraulic-fluid cavity in the hydraulic cylinder, and the portion of the chamber on the other side of the diaphragm containing a pressurized gas.
