One piece polymer ammunition cartridge having a primer insert and methods of making the same
The present invention provides a single piece polymer ammunition cartridge and polymer ammunition and methods of forming a single piece polymer ammunition cartridge and polymer ammunition.
Shaped charge assembly, explosive units, and methods for selectively expanding wall of a tubular
A shaped charge assembly for selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes a housing comprising an outer surface facing away from the housing and an opposing inner surface facing an interior of the housing. First and second explosive units each includes a predetermined amount of explosive sufficient to expand, without puncturing, at least a portion of the wall of the tubular to form a protrusion extending outward into an annulus adjacent the wall of the tubular.
Explosive downhole tools having improved wellbore conveyance and debris properties, methods of using the explosive downhole tools in a wellbore, and explosive units for explosive column tools
An explosive downhole tool includes a housing having an upper housing part on one side of a window section and a lower housing part on an opposite side of the window section. An explosive charge is provided within the housing for at least one of cutting and expanding the wall of the tubular. The outer surface of at least one of the upper and lower housing part is rounded so as to be devoid of corners. The rounded surface eliminates the presence of sharp corners that may catch on restrictions or protrusions in a wellbore so that the downhole tool is more easily conveyable within a wellbore. Another explosive downhole tool includes fins extending from the housing. The fins have a height that decreases in a direction away from the housing. The shape of the fins enables the downhole tool to be more easily conveyable within the wellbore.
FIRING DEVICE FOR SHOCK TUBE
Disclosed is a firing device for shock tube. Shock tube is a non-electric explosive initiator, well known to those of ordinary skill in the art. The firing device is configured to provide a redundant dual-ignition capability for connected shock tube. In this way, a second attempt to initiate the shock tube can be made immediately following a failed first attempt. To provide this functionality, the firing device includes a primer tray that can be preloaded with two primers. Using an operably connected selector, the primer tray can be rotated between use positions that individually locate each primer for detonation.
Diffuser for polymer ammunition cartridges
The present invention provides a diffuser cup adapted to fit a primer recess in an ammunition cartridge comprising: a diffuser ring sized to fit in a primer recess for an ammunition cartridge comprising a diffuser top surface opposite a diffuser bottom surface, a diffuser aperture positioned through the diffuser top surface and the diffuser bottom surface such that the diffuser aperture can align with a flash hole, a diffuser neck positioned about the diffuser aperture to extend away from the diffuser top surface, wherein the diffuser neck is sized to fit at least partially through the flash hole; a ring connected to the diffuser neck, wherein the ring comprises a ring aperture connected to the diffuser neck to align the ring aperture and the diffuser aperture; and a cup wall attached to the diffuser ring to extend away from the diffuser bottom surface, wherein the cup wall is configured to frictionally fit a primer and frictionally fit a primer recess.
Diffuser for polymer ammunition cartridges
The present invention provides a diffuser ring adapted to fit a primer recess in an ammunition cartridge comprising: a diffuser ring sized to fit in a primer recess for an ammunition cartridge comprising a diffuser top surface opposite a diffuser bottom surface, a diffuser aperture positioned through the diffuser top surface and the diffuser bottom surface such that the diffuser aperture can align with a flash hole, a diffuser neck positioned about the diffuser aperture to extend away from the diffuser top surface, wherein the diffuser neck is sized to fit at least partially through the flash hole, and a ring connected to the diffuser neck, wherein the ring comprises a ring aperture connected to the diffuser neck to align the ring aperture and the diffuser aperture.
SUBSONIC POLYMERIC AMMUNITION CARTRIDGE
The present invention provides a subsonic ammunition cartridge including a polymeric casing body comprising a generally cylindrical hollow polymer body having a body base at a first end thereof and a mouth at a second end to define a propellant chamber; a propellant insert positioned in the propellant chamber to reduce the internal volume of the propellant chamber, wherein the propellant chamber has an internal volume that is between 25 and 80% less than the open internal volume of a standard casing of equivalent caliber; and a primer insert positioned at the body base and in communication with the propellant chamber.
