Wellbore gun perforating system and method
09689239 · 2017-06-27 · ·

A wellbore perforating system and method with reliable and safer connections in a perforating gun assembly is disclosed. The system/method includes a gun string assembly (GSA) deployed in a wellbore with multiple perforating guns attached to plural switch subs. The perforating guns are pre-wired with a cable having multi conductors; the multi conductors are connected to electrical ring contacts on either end of the perforating guns. The switch subs are configured with electrical contacts that are attached to the electrical contacts of the perforating guns without the need for manual electrical connections and assembly in the field of operations. The system further includes detonating with a detonator that is positioned upstream of the perforating gun. The detonator is wired to a switch that is positioned downstream of the perforating gun.

Method for the enhancement of injection activities and stimulation of oil and gas production

By removing material of low permeability from within and around a perforation tunnel and creating at least one fracture at the tip of a perforation tunnel, injection parameters and effects such as outflow rate and, in the case of multiple perforation tunnels benefiting from such cleanup, distribution of injected fluids along a wellbore are enhanced. Following detonation of a charge carrier, a second explosive event is triggered within a freshly made tunnel, thereby substantially eliminating a crushed zone and improving the geometry and quality (and length) of the tunnel. In addition, this action creates substantially debris-free tunnels and relieves the residual stress cage, resulting in perforation tunnels that are highly conducive to injection under fracturing conditions for disposal and stimulation purposes, and that promote even coverage of injected fluids across the perforated interval.

A method for reducing blasting vibration of tunneling includes the steps of: dividing the cutting holes into several groups according to different cutting methods; conducting layout and test blasting on one group of cutting holes; testing blasting parameters for the layout and test blasting; calculating an interval t; conducting layout and test blasting on at least two groups of cutting holes again; testing blasting parameters for the layout and test blasting of each group for the second time; taking the minimum interval t of each group as the interval for formal blasting of the remaining groups of cutting holes. The use of the characteristics of the wave in the invention can superpose the peaks and troughs of the vibration wave, and further cancel out mutually; reduce the peaks of the blasting vibration and fill the troughs of the blasting vibration.
