System and method of processing produce
Systems and methods of de-stemming produce are provided. An apparatus can process an item of produce having a first portion and a second portion attached to the first portion. The apparatus can include at least one first conveyor unit that can convey the first portion of the item of produce in a first direction. The apparatus can include at least one second conveyor unit that can convey the second portion of the item of produce in a second direction that differs from the first linear direction by between zero and 90 degrees to generate a separation force between the first portion of the item of produce and the second portion of the item of produce that separates the first portion from the second portion.

FOOD IMAGING AND PROCESSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A food processing system for processing a food product, includes imaging system for generating an image of the food product and a control system. The control system is configured to process the image of the food product and determine a product region of the image related to the food product. A robot is configured to move the food product into a processing section. The processing section is configured to cut the food product and dispense a processed food product that corresponds to the desired product region.

MUSHROOM PACKING APPARATUS
A mushroom packing apparatus (10) comprises a conveyor (12) having a mushroom loading section (30) and an unloading end (42) for unloading the mushrooms into a container (16); a mushroom stem cutter (56): a movable support platform (14) for the container adjacent to the unloading end with weighing means (66) for determining the weight of the loaded mushrooms; the unloading end (42) being movable into a plurality of positions relative to the container; the movable support platform being movable such that a plurality of locations in the container are moved into a position proximate to the unloading end. The apparatus results in increased picking speed. It can load each till or box to the target weight, and fill tills when they are in lugs, so workers do not need to handle individual filled tills.
Apparatus and method for fruit decapping
A fruit decapping apparatus and method, particularly suited for strawberries. The fruits items (100) are placed by a robotic arm (200) in a lateral aperture (310) of a plate (300), leaving the calyx (120) and the main body (130) below the plate (300). When the robotic arm (200) pulls from the peduncle (110), the plate (300) also pulls from an elastic connection (500). This movement is detected by a sensor (600) which activates a pair of blades (800) solidarily disposed under the lateral aperture (310) of the plate (300).

AUTOMATED STRAWBERRY ORIENTING AND CAPPING MACHINE
An automated apparatus for removing the tops (calyx) of strawberries as they move along a conveyor belt having a plurality of concave-shaped slotted rollers which operate to orient the calyx of each strawberry for being cut. Images are captured and processed for locating the calyx of each strawberry and determining an optimal cutting plane. In response to the image processing a control system actuates a blade in a cutting apparatus to pass through the produce item and into one of the slots in a roller, or rollers, to separate the calyx from the body of the strawberry.
Apparatus and related methods for trimming dried cannabis flowers
In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises: (1) a box with specifically designed blades for cutting; (2) a motor for rotating the blades over each other; (3) a sweeper mechanism to gently move the flowers around the enclosure blade; and, (4) a brush mechanism to gently tumble flowers over the blade surface.
PEPPER DE-STEMMING METHODS AND APPARATUS
A way of dealing with challenges to the pepper processing industry and pepper growers is to mechanize pepper processing, including the de-stemming of whole peppers. The present example provides a method for mechanically de-stemming whole peppers. The method provides for the recognition of a pepper's shoulder and or interior regions and stem in order to generate a control signal to initiate a process to de-stem the pepper. In particular, several implementations of the method are provided that may include a mechanical system, a laser system, a machine vision system, a combination of a machine vision system and the laser system, and other equivalent implementations. Additionally disclosed, are methods of processing whole peppers utilizing automated de-stemming.
