Scroll fluid machine

In a scroll fluid machine, a thinned section (26) is provided in correspondence with a position at which the wrap height of a spiral wrap (15B, 16B) changes due to a step part. The thinned section (26) is provided on the front-side surface or the rear-side surface of a tooth tip section of at least one of the spiral wraps (15B, 16B) of at least one of partner scrolls (15, 16) respectively engaging with scrolls (15, 16). The thinned section (26) is provided in the direction in which the wrap thickness decreases so as to extend over at least a reduced-machining-accuracy area (27), which is an area where the machining becomes discontinuous due to at least a change in the wrap height. Thus, a contact failure between the spiral wraps (15B, 16B) is avoided in the area where the machining accuracy relatively decreases as a result of increasing the machining speed, thereby achieving both improved productivity and maintained performance.

Compressor having sound isolation feature

Scroll compressor designs are provided to minimize vibration, sound, and noise transmission. The scroll compressor has a bearing housing, and orbiting and non-orbiting scroll members. The non-orbiting scroll member has a radially extending flanged portion with at least one aperture substantially aligned with the axially extending bore. At least one fastener is disposed within the aperture and the bore. A sound isolation member contacts at least one of the non-orbiting scroll member, the fastener, or the bearing housing, to reduce or eliminate noise transmission. The sound isolation member may be formed of a polymeric composite having an acoustic impedance value greater than the surrounding materials. The sound isolation member may be an annular washer, an O-ring, or a biasing member, by way of non-limiting example. In other variations, fluid passages are provided within the fastener and/or bearing housing to facilitate entry of lubricant oil to further dampen sound and noise.

Scroll unloading detection system

Systems and methods for compressor unloading detection are provided and include a compressor having a compression mechanism. A controller determines a predicted discharge temperature of the compressor, receives an actual discharge temperature of the compressor, and compares the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature. The controller also compares a speed of the compressor with a speed threshold and detects unloading of the compression mechanism based on the comparison of the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature and based on the comparison of the speed of the compressor with the speed threshold. The controller performs at least one of generating an alert and a remediating action in response to detecting the unloading of the compression mechanism.

A compact energy cycle construction that operates as or in accordance with a Rankine, Organic Rankine, Heat Pump, or Combined Organic Rankine and Heat Pump Cycle, comprising a compact housing of a generally cylindrical form with some combination of a scroll type expander, pump, and compressor disposed therein to share a common shaft with a motor or generator and to form an integrated system, with the working fluid of the system circulating within the housing as a torus along the common shaft and toroidally within the housing as the system operates.

Scroll compressor including discharge guide to quicken discharge refrigerant flow movement

A scroll compressor includes a discharge guide disposed in a high-pressure part to guide refrigerant discharged from a compression part to a refrigerant discharge pipe, and the discharge guide may extend by a preset height from an inner circumferential surface of a casing constituting the high-pressure part toward one side surface of a high and low pressure separation plate. This can guide discharge refrigerant discharged to the high-pressure part to quickly flow to the refrigerant discharge pipe before being spread in an entire space of the high-pressure part, thereby preventing the high and low pressure separation plate from being overheated by discharge refrigerant of high temperature. This can result in preventing suction refrigerant of a low-pressure part from being heated by heat of discharge refrigerant transferred through the high and low pressure separation plate, thereby reducing a specific volume of the suction refrigerant and improving compressor efficiency.
