A side clearance is formed between a side surface of the fixed-side wrap and a side surface of the movable-side wrap so as to increase from an outer peripheral side toward an inner peripheral side of each of the wraps.

The present invention provides a scroll fluid machine characterized by comprising: a stationary scroll obtained by forming a wrap section on an end plate; an orbiting scroll obtained by forming a wrap section on an end plate such that the wrap section faces the wrap section of the stationary scroll; a drive shaft for driving the orbiting scroll; an orbiting bearing for supporting the drive shaft relative to the orbiting scroll; and a plurality of pouring openings for pouring a lubricant into the orbiting bearing from the outside.

A scroll compressor includes one or more stage of compression disposed within a compressor housing. One or more of the stages includes a stationary scroll member including a base and a generally spiral wrap extending from the base of the stationary scroll member. One or more of the stages further includes an orbiting, scroll member including a substantially circular base and a substantially spiral wrap extending from the base of the orbiting scroll member. A coupling is disposed between the first scroll member base and the second scroll member base and in surrounding relationship to the first and second scroll member spiral wraps. At least one stabilizing pad is disposed between the first scroll member base and the second scroll member base and in axial thrust force relationship with the coupling to at least partially prevent tipping of the second scroll member.

Systems and methods for scroll unloading detection are provided and include a scroll compressor having a scroll compression mechanism. A controller determines a predicted discharge temperature of the scroll compressor, receives an actual discharge temperature of the scroll compressor, and compares the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature. The controller also compares a speed of the scroll compressor with a speed threshold and detects unloading of the scroll compression mechanism based on the comparison of the predicted discharge temperature with the actual discharge temperature and based on the comparison of the speed of the scroll compressor with the speed threshold. The controller performs at least one of generating an alert and a remediating action in response to detecting the unloading of the scroll compression mechanism.

A compressor may include a shell, first and second scrolls, a seal assembly, a modulation control chamber, and a modulation control valve. The first scroll may include a first end plate having a biasing passage extending therethrough. The seal assembly may isolate a discharge pressure region from a suction pressure region. The seal assembly and the first scroll may define an axial biasing chamber therebetween that communicates with the axial biasing chamber and a first pocket between the first and second scrolls. The modulation control chamber may be fluidly coupled with the biasing chamber by a first passage. The modulation control valve may be fluidly coupled with the modulation control chamber by a second passage and movable between a first position allowing communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region and a second position restricting communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region.

The control unit 4A controls the engagement and disengagement of the clutch 31 based on a first correlation value correlated with consumed power when the Rankine cycle device 2A is started, and a second correlation value correlated with consumed power of the Rankine cycle device 2A when the output of the Rankine cycle device 2A is negative during the operation of the Rankine cycle device 2A after the start-up.
