Turbocharger
A turbocharger includes a turbine housing, a compressor housing, and a bearing housing. Each of the housings includes a passage for cooling inside. The turbocharger further includes a switching valve and a controller that switches a valve position of the switching valve. The switching valve is adapted to switch the circulation state of coolant in each passage such that the coolant is supplied from the passage of the turbine housing to the passage of the bearing housing or such that the coolant is supplied from another passage to the passage of the bearing housing. The controller switches the valve position of the switching valve such that the coolant is supplied from the passage of the turbine housing to the passage of the bearing housing until a predetermined amount of time passes after starting of the engine.
Thermal management system and method of circulating air in a gas turbine engine
A thermal management system and method of circulating air in a gas turbine engine are disclosed. The thermal management system includes a nose cone having an aperture communicating air to an interior space of the nose cone and a fan blade coupled to the nose cone and having a blade passage, wherein the nose cone rotates with the fan blade to circulate air from the aperture to the blade passage.
TURBOCHARGER ASSEMBLY
A turbocharger system can include a housing that includes a through bore, a plurality of lubricant bores, a plurality of lubricant bore to through bore openings and a recessed compressor-side surface that defines in part a passage that fluidly couples at least two of the lubricant bores; a rolling element bearing unit disposed at least in part in the through bore of the housing; and, a plate that covers at least a portion of the recessed compressor-side surface of the housing.
LUBRICATION SYSTEM FOR AN ATTRITABLE ENGINE
A gas turbine engine with a lubrication system includes a ball bearing assembly and a rotor circumscribing a rotational axis and journaled within the ball bearing assembly. The gas turbine engine also includes a lubrication system located radially outward from a rotational axis and radially outward and adjacent to the ball bearing assembly, which includes a lubrication channel having an inlet and an outlet and a dispersion cone adjacent to the outlet of the lubrication channel.
REGULATION OF THE OIL FLOW IN A COOLING CIRCUIT OF A TURBOMACHINE
A turbomachine including a turbine shaft supported by at least one bearing, at least one enclosure, housing the bearing of the turbine shaft, an oil cooling circuit of the enclosure including at least one jet configured to inject oil from the cooling circuit into the enclosure, and a regulator configured to regulate the flow of oil in the cooling circuit as a function of an oil temperature at output of the enclosure and a pressure difference at the level of the jet.
SUMP ASSEMBLY FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
The present disclosure is directed to a sump housing for a gas turbine engine. The sump housing includes a base portion and a first wall extending outwardly from the base portion. The first wall and the base portion at least partially define an inner chamber. A second wall is positioned outwardly from the first wall and extends outwardly from the base portion. The base portion, the first wall, and the second wall at least partially define an outer chamber positioned outwardly from the inner chamber. A projection extending inwardly from the first wall engages a bearing assembly. The base portion, the first wall, the second wall, and the projection are integrally coupled together.
INTEGRATED OIL SUPPLY TUBE AND CHECK VALVE
An oil supply assembly for a bearing damper of a gas turbine engine includes an oil supply tube configured to supply oil in a first direction. The assembly also includes a bearing support having a bearing damper path connecting the bearing damper to the oil supply tube and a bearing compartment path connecting a bearing compartment to the oil supply tube. The assembly also includes a check valve disposed within the bearing damper path and configured to allow fluid communication in the first direction from the oil supply tube to the bearing damper and block fluid communication in a second direction opposite the first direction.
Heat pipe temperature management system for a turbomachine
A turbomachine includes a compressor having an inter-stage gap between adjacent rows of rotor blades and stator vanes. A combustor is connected to the compressor, and a turbine is connected to the combustor. An intercooler is operatively connected to the compressor, and includes a first plurality of heat pipes that extend into the inter-stage gap. The first plurality of heat pipes are operatively connected to a first manifold, and the heat pipes and the first manifold are configured to transfer heat from the compressed airflow from the compressor to heat exchangers. A cooling system is operatively connected to the turbine, and includes a second plurality of heat pipes located in the turbine nozzles. The second plurality of heat pipes are operatively connected to a second manifold, and the heat pipes and the second manifold are configured to transfer heat from the turbine nozzles to the heat exchangers.
Hollow Filled Turbocharger Rotor Shaft
A turbocharger rotor shaft assembly and associated turbocharger that includes at least one turbine rotor member having a first face and an opposed second face; and a rotor shaft having a first end and an opposed second end distal from the first end, wherein the rotor shaft is connected to the at least one turbine rotor at a location proximate to the first end and projects outward therefrom, the rotor shaft having an outwardly oriented face and an interior chamber defined therein, the interior chamber having an interior chamber volume. The turbocharger rotor shaft also includes at least one thermal transfer material contained in the interior chamber of the rotor shaft that has a thermal conductivity value that is greater than the thermal conductivity value of the material of construction of the rotor shaft.
Turbocharger bearing housing
There is provided a turbocharger bearing housing having no necessity to use a core and capable of achieving cost reduction. A bearing housing of a turbocharger contains a shaft connecting a turbine and a compressor and turnably supports the shaft. The bearing housing of the turbocharger is divided into a turbine-side housing disposed at a turbine side and a compressor-side housing disposed at a compressor side. The turbine-side housing and the compressor-side housing is subjected to machining to thereby form a cooling water passage for supplying cooling water and a lubricating oil passage for supplying lubricating oil.
