METHOD OF MODIFYING AN ENGINE OIL COOLING SYSTEM
20200072115 · 2020-03-05 ·

A method of modifying the oil cooling system of a diesel engine includes the steps of removing the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger and installing a manifold having a configuration adapted to match the mounting configuration of the oil passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The manifold has an oil outlet port directed to a remotely mounted oil cooler. The manifold also has a water passage having a configuration that is adapted to match the mounting configuration of the water passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The water passage causes the entirety of the flow of water to be discharged back to the water cooling system of the engine where it is circulated by the water pump through the water cooling passages in the engine.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

An internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft that is rotatably supported on the crankcase, a cylinder block that is joined to the crankcase and defines a plurality of cylinders in a V-type arrangement in which the cylinders are disposed above a virtual horizontal plane including a rotational axis of the crankshaft and intersect each other at a bank angle, a to-be-detected body that rotates integrally with the crankshaft, and a detection sensor that is mounted from an outside at a position, lower than the virtual horizontal plane, of a front face of the crankcase that receives air flow, is made to face a trajectory of the to-be-detected body, and generates a pulse signal in response to movement of the to-be-detected body. Thereby provided is a structure for disposing a detection sensor that can detect the angular velocity of a crankshaft with high precision in a so-called V-type internal combustion engine.

Engine Device

An engine device including a cylinder block having one side portion to which a flywheel that is rotated integrally with a crankshaft is disposed. The engine device is provided with a starter that transmits a rotational force to the flywheel at a time of engine start. A flywheel housing, which accommodates the flywheel and includes a starter attachment pedestal for attaching the starter, is attached to the one side portion of the cylinder block. The starter is disposed inner side of the engine than a portion of the flywheel housing, the portion being located outermost in the engine with respect to a direction that is perpendicular to a direction along a crankshaft center and that is parallel to the cylinder head joining surface of the cylinder block.

OIL FILTER ASSEMBLY

A casted metallic oil filter adaptor that has an entirely internal lubricant flow path and threads for connecting associated components directly to the casted metallic oil filter adaptor.

Heat exchanger module

A heat exchanger module may include a heat exchanger device arranged on a base plate and configured to control the temperature of a fluid via a heat transfer medium. The module may also include at least one additional unit arranged on the base plate and structured as at least one of a pump and a filter device. Further, the module may include a fluid inflow duct, a fluid outflow duct, a medium inflow duct, and a medium outflow duct disposed in the base plate. The at least one additional unit may include at least one inflow line and at least one outflow line disposed in the base plate and fluidically separated from the other ducts disposed in the base plate. The at least one inflow line and the at least one outflow line may be arranged outside as well as below the heat exchanger device.
