Catalyst for purification of exhaust gas from internal combustion engine and method for purification of exhaust gas using the catalyst

A catalyst for purification of exhaust gas containing a phosphorus compound includes: a lower catalyst layer containing at least one of noble metal provided on a refractory three-dimensional structure; and an upper catalyst layer at an inflow side of exhaust gas and an upper catalyst layer at an outflow side of exhaust gas provided on a surface of the lower catalyst layer. The upper catalyst layer at the inflow side and the upper catalyst layer at the outflow side have different concentrations of noble metal. The catalyst has an intermediate zone with a length of 3 to 23% of the overall length of the refractory three-dimensional structure provided between the upper catalyst layer at the inflow side and the upper catalyst layer at the outflow side. The intermediate zone starts from a position 10 to 38% from an end face of the catalyst at the inflow side of exhaust gas.

The present disclosure generally provides selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst compositions, catalyst articles and catalyst systems including such catalyst articles for treating engine exhaust gas. In particular, the SCR catalyst composition includes a first zeolite and a second zeolite and has not been subjected to temperatures above 650° C. The first zeolite includes a promoter metal and has a first framework structure and at least a portion of the second zeolite is in a form selected from H.sup.+ form, NH.sub.4.sup.+ form, alkali metal form, alkaline earth metal form, and combinations thereof and has a second framework structure. The first framework structure and the second framework structure are different.

An exhaust gas purification apparatus includes a three-way catalyst. The three-way catalyst includes a downstream catalyst layer and an upstream catalyst layer. The downstream catalyst layer is to be provided in an exhaust pipe. The downstream catalyst layer contains a noble metal material containing at least one of Pd, Rh, or Pt, and an OSC material containing at least ceria. The upstream catalyst layer is to be provided in the exhaust pipe closer to an engine than the downstream catalyst layer is. The upstream catalyst layer contains the noble metal material and the OSC material. The upstream catalyst layer contains the ceria at a content less than a content of the ceria in the downstream catalyst layer.

CATALYTICALLY ACTIVE PARTICULATE FILTER

The invention relates to a particulate filter for removing particles, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides out of the exhaust gas of combustion engines operated with stoichiometric air/fuel mixture, comprising a wall flow filter with length L and a coating Z, wherein the wall flow filter includes channels E and A which extend in parallel between a first and a second end of the wall flow filter and are separated by porous walls, which form surfaces OE or OA, and wherein the channels E are closed at the second end and the channels A are closed at the first end, characterised in that coating Z is located in the porous walls and extends from the first end of the wall flow filter over the entire length L, and includes active aluminum oxide, two different cerium/zirconium/rare earth metal mixed oxides and at least one platinum group metal.

CATALYTICALLY ACTIVE PARTICULATE FILTER

The present invention relates to a particulate filter which comprises a wall-flow filter of length L and two different catalytically active coatings Y and Z, wherein the wall flow filter comprises channels E and A that extend in parallel between a first and a second end of the wall-flow filter and are separated by porous walls which form the surfaces O.sub.E and O.sub.A, respectively, and wherein the channels E are closed at the second end and the channels A are closed at the first end. The invention is characterized in that the coating Y is located in the channels E on the surfaces O.sub.E and the coating Z is located in the porous walls.

Exhaust gas purification catalyst

An exhaust gas purification catalyst of the present invention is provided with a base 10 and a catalyst coat layer 30. The catalyst coat layer is provided with Rh and Pd as noble metal catalysts. Herein Rh is disposed in a first-stage upper layer A and a second-stage upper layer C, and Pd is disposed in the first-stage upper layer A and a first-stage lower layer B, and in a second-stage lower layer D. A mass ratio (A.sub.Pd/A.sub.Rh) of Pd to Rh, disposed in first-stage upper layer A is 0.5(A.sub.Pd/A.sub.Rh)3.

EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT SYSTEM WITH UPSTREAM SCR CATALYST

A system for treatment of an exhaust gas stream from an engine is provided, containing an upstream selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, which receives the exhaust gas stream without any intervening catalyst, a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) positioned downstream thereof; a catalyzed soot filter (CSF) downstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst; a second SCR catalyst positioned downstream of the catalyzed soot filter; and an ammonia oxidation (AMOx) catalyst. The application also describes use of such systems to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) and hydrocarbons (HC) in an exhaust gas stream.

Single brick SCR/ASC/PNA/DOC close-coupled catalyst

A catalyst article including a substrate with an inlet side and an outlet side, a first zone and a second zone, where the first zone includes a passive NOx adsorber (PNA), and an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) comprising a platinum group metal on a support and a first SCR catalyst; where the second zone includes a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel exotherm catalyst (DEC); and where the first zone is located upstream of the second zone. The first zone may include a bottom layer with a blend of: (1) the platinum group metal on a support and (2) the first SCR catalyst; and a top layer with a second SCR catalyst, the top layer located over the bottom layer.
