Internal combustion engine with shrouded injection valve and precombustion chamber system

An engine is provided. In one embodiment, the engine includes a precombustion chamber having a body, a secondary combustion chamber disposed at least partially in the body, and a plurality of passages configured to place the precombustion chamber in fluid communication with a main combustion chamber.

Pre-chamber

A pre-chamber is provided. In one embodiment, the pre-chamber is part of a two-stroke combustion engine having a cylinder head with a sparkplug receptacle that has a generally frustoconical shape, and the pre-chamber is coupled to the sparkplug receptacle. The pre-chamber may include a cooling jacket with a generally frustoconical shape and a combustion chamber having an upper zone and a lower zone, which may be narrower than the upper zone.

The disclosure describes multipoint injection systems for an engine and methods of operation of the same. The systems and methods can include an engine, including an engine block having at least one cylinder bore, a piston having a piston crown facing a flame deck surface such that a combustion main chamber is defined within a cylinder bore and located between the piston crown and the flame deck surface, the piston crown further including a piston bowl having a generally concave shape, and a combustion pre-chamber having a nozzle tip disposed in fluid communication with the combustion main chamber, the nozzle tip having at least one nozzle opening configured to inject a fuel jet into the combustion main chamber, wherein the piston includes a piston wall located around a circumference of the piston bowl, the piston wall including at least one cavity.

Spark plug for a gas-powered internal combustion engine

A spark plug for a stationary, gas-powered internal combustion engine, having a metallic body, an insulator mounted in a passage of the body, a center electrode passing through the insulator, a ground electrode mounted on the body that, together with the center electrode, forms a spark air gap, and a cap attached to the body. The cap shields the center and ground electrodes from the combustion chamber after the spark plug is installed in a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, and that, together with the body of the spark plug, forms a prechamber in which the center and ground electrodes are located. The cap has at least one opening that permits gas exchange between the prechamber and the space outside of the prechamber. A sensor receiving space is provided in the body of the spark plug, which space opens into the prechamber and serves to receive a pressure sensor in a replaceable manner, and a connecting channel for routing a connecting line of the pressure sensor leads from the sensor receiving space to the end of the body opposite the cap.

Pre-chamber assembly

A pre-chamber assembly of an internal combustion engine includes a supply channel configured to supply air and fuel into a pre-chamber, at least one transfer passage configured to couple the pre-chamber with a main combustion chamber, and a riser passage between the pre-chamber and the transfer passage. The riser passage is oblique relative to a longitudinal axis of the pre-chamber assembly. An ignition means and the supply channel are arranged on a proximal end of the pre-chamber assembly.

PRECHAMBER-TYPE ENGINE

Provided is a prechamber-type engine comprising a cylinder, a cylinder head, and a piston defining a main combustion chamber between the cylinder and the cylinder head. Inside the cylinder head, a pre-combustion chamber communicating with the main combustion chamber via an injection hole is defined. The injection hole extends such that the distance between the center of the injection hole and the central axis line of the cylinder becomes smaller from a prechamber-side opening toward a main chamber-side opening. A top surface of the piston has a recessed piston cavity. In a cross sectional view in which the central axis line of the cylinder and the center of the main chamber side opening are present, a first end that is on the side of the circumferential edge of the main chamber-side opening farther from the central axis line of the cylinder is positioned farther from the central axis line of the cylinder than a second end that is on the side of the circumferential edge of the piston cavity closer to the injection hole.

Spray guided stratification for fueling a passive pre-chamber

An engine includes an engine block having a cylinder, a piston movably disposed in a main chamber of the cylinder, a prechamber adjacent to and in fluid communication with the main chamber via a prechamber nozzle, and a fuel injector in fluid communication with the main chamber, wherein the fuel injector has spray nozzles interfacing with the main chamber. The fuel injector and the prechamber are aligned such that a first nozzle of the spray nozzles is directed towards the prechamber nozzle.

ENGINE

In an engine provided with a pre-chamber spark plug, the pre-chamber is formed by a torch sleeve mounted on a cylinder head and having nozzles and a spark plug. In the torch sleeve, a tip protruding from the cylinder head has a tapering portion the diameter of which gradually decreases toward a piston, or specifically a tapered section. The tapered section is provided with a plurality of nozzles.
