An engine includes an engine block having a cylinder, a piston movably disposed in a main chamber of the cylinder, a prechamber adjacent to and in fluid communication with the main chamber via a prechamber nozzle, and a fuel injector in fluid communication with the main chamber, wherein the fuel injector has spray nozzles interfacing with the main chamber. The fuel injector and the prechamber are aligned such that a first nozzle of the spray nozzles is directed towards the prechamber nozzle.

A precombustion-chamber engine includes a cylinder, a cylinder head disposed on a top of the cylinder, and a piston reciprocably disposed within the cylinder. A main combustion chamber is defined between the piston and the cylinder head. The cylinder head includes a precombustion-chamber forming part which defines a precombustion chamber communicating with the main combustion chamber through a nozzle. The precombustion chamber includes a cylindrical first passage part extending upwardly from the nozzle, a second passage part extending upwardly from the first passage part and having an upwardly-increasing cross-sectional area, and a cylindrical space part which extends upwardly from the second passage part and in which a spark plug is disposed. Center O of a cross-section, orthogonal to straight line L, of the second passage part is eccentric with respect to straight line L composed of an axis of the first passage part and an extended line of the axis.

Pre-chamber for an internal combustion engine and combustion engine

A pre-chamber component for an internal combustion engine includes a chamber for accommodating an air-fuel-mixture to be ignited, wherein the pre-chamber component includes a first opening into the chamber for arranging an ignition device, in particular a spark plug, and a second opening for introducing the air-fuel-mixture in the form of a mixture flow into the chamber. The pre-chamber component includes a mixture flow guiding device, which is shaped such that the mixture flow of the air-fuel-mixture in the chamber is oriented substantially transversely with respect to a longitudinal axis from the second opening of the chamber to at least a part of the chamber adjacent to the first opening and/or in the form of a turbulent flow.

The spark plug includes a housing, a cap, which defines a prechamber at least partially, and which includes a plurality of through holes that are configured to produce a connection between the prechamber and a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine; the through holes each having a hole center line; the cap including a recess at a region pointed towards the housing, the recess abutting the housing at a combustion-chamber-side end of the housing; a distance from an exit point of a through hole lying on the hole center line, to a recess, being in a range of 2 mm to 7 mm; and a first angle between a center axis of the prechamber spark plug and the hole center line being in a range of 30? to 70?. An internal combustion engine including such a prechamber spark plug is also described.

A pre-chamber body for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The pre-chamber body may have a pre-chamber. The pre-chamber body may also have a flow transfer passage, which may fluidly connect the pre-chamber and an exterior of the pre-chamber body. In addition, the pre-chamber body may have at least one backflow channel, which may fluidly connect the pre-chamber and the flow transfer passage.
