TURBOCHARGER DEVICE
A turbocharger device includes a case having a turbine portion and a bearing portion connected to and extending from the turbine portion. The turbine portion defines a cavity that houses a turbine wheel and receives exhaust gas that rotates the turbine wheel. The bearing portion houses a shaft connected to the turbine wheel. The bearing portion has a radial thickness between an exterior surface and an interior surface. The interior surface defines a central channel. The bearing portion holds a bearing system that supports the shaft within the central channel. The bearing portion includes a lattice structure within the radial thickness. The lattice structure is a repeating three-dimensional array of frame segments connected to one another at junctions. The lattice structure engages a turbine back wall that is located between the turbine portion and the bearing portion. The lattice structure defines interstitial spaces between the frame segments.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ENGINE
A control device for an engine is provided, which includes variable intake and exhaust valve operating mechanisms, a supercharger provided to an intake passage and configured to boost intake air introduced into a cylinder, and a controller. The controller drives the supercharger when the engine operates in a boosted range. The controller controls the variable intake and exhaust valve operating mechanisms so that a valve overlap period during which intake and exhaust valves open simultaneously is formed, when the engine operates in a low-speed boosted range of the boosted range where the engine speed is less than a reference speed. The controller controls the variable exhaust valve operating mechanism so that the open timing of the exhaust valve is more advanced when the engine operates in a high-speed boosted range of the boosted range where the engine speed is greater than or equal to the reference speed.

Drive system for a motor vehicle, and motor vehicle having the drive system
A drive system for driving a motor vehicle is provided. The drive system includes a first turbocharger, a second turbocharger, and an internal combustion engine. The first turbocharger and the second turbocharger are, for the drive of the motor vehicle, operatively connected to the internal combustion engine. The first turbocharger and the second turbocharger are, in a height direction of a crankcase of the internal combustion engine, arranged one above the other in a defined corridor adjacent to the crankcase. The invention also provides a motor vehicle including the drive system.
Turbocharger arrangement in engine systems
An engine system includes an engine with a crankshaft. The crankshaft is rotatable about a crankshaft axis that is defined in a first plane. A turbocharger includes a turbine and a compressor. The turbine is configured to be driven by an exhaust gas flow from the engine and drive the compressor about a common turbocharger axis. An included angle defined between a projection of the common turbocharger axis onto the first plane and the crankshaft axis is an acute angle.

Supercharging device for engine
A supercharging device for an engine is provided, which includes a supercharger provided to an intake passage of the engine, an actuator configured to drive the supercharger, and a controller including a processor configured to control the actuator to drive the supercharger when an operating state of the engine is in a given supercharging range, and to stop the supercharger when the operating state is in a non-supercharging range. The controller causes the actuator to forcibly drive the supercharger in the non-supercharging range when a temperature of the supercharger is lower than a preset temperature, and prohibits the forcible drive of the supercharger when a rotation speed of the supercharger during the forcible drive of the supercharger is lower than a preset rotation speed.
