Disclosed is a blowby gas treatment device for an internal combustion engine with a supercharger, the blowby gas treatment device comprising: a fresh air introduction passage wherein one end of the fresh air introduction passage is connected to an upstream side of the supercharger and the other end is communicated with a crankcase of the internal combustion engine; a first blowby gas passage wherein one end of the first blowby gas passage is connected to a venturi part provided in an upstream side of the supercharger in the intake passage and the other end is communicated with the crankcase; a first check valve being interposed in the fresh air introduction passage and preventing a flow from the crankcase side to the intake passage side; and a second check valve being interposed in the blowby gas passage and preventing a flow from the intake passage side to the crankcase side.

A negative pressure control valve (44) is disposed in a part of an intake passage (12) upstream of a confluence (30) of an EGR passage (27) and the intake passage (12). When in an EGR region (Regr) where an EGR gas is recirculated to the intake passage (12) through the EGR passage (27), the negative pressure control valve (44) is controlled in a manner to ensure a differential pressure between an exhaust passage (13) and the intake passage (12). When in an operation region (R2) lower in load than the EGR region (Regr), the negative pressure control valve (44) is controlled in a closing direction so as to suppress occurrence of noise.

Methods and systems are provided for improving transient performance in a boosted engine having staged air compression systems. An electric supercharger compressor is staged downstream of a turbocharger compressor in a bypass, airflow diverted from a main intake passage to the bypass via closure of a bypass valve. During selected conditions when the supercharger compressor is not being spun, the bypass valve may be closed to direct air to the engine after flowing through the supercharger in a stand-by mode, thereby enabling a transient increase in torque demand to be rapidly met.

Turbocharger system for a two-stroke engine

A turbocharger and method of controlling the same includes a turbine housing comprising an inlet and an outlet, turbine wheel coupled to a shaft. The turbine housing comprising a first scroll and a second scroll for fluidically coupling the inlet and the turbine wheel. The first scroll has a first end adjacent the inlet and a second end adjacent the turbine wheel. The second scroll has a third end adjacent the inlet and a fourth end adjacent the turbine wheel. An exhaust gas diverter valve is coupled to the turbine housing restricting flow into the first scroll or the second scroll.

Apparatus and method for diagnosing failure of bypass valve

Some embodiments of the teachings herein include an apparatus for diagnosing bypass valve failure in an electric supercharger with a motor and an electric compressor comprising: a bypass valve on a bypass line branching from an intake line with the electric supercharger; and a control unit which assesses the vehicle-state information to determine whether failure criteria of a bypass valve start are satisfied. If the failure criteria are satisfied, the control unit transmits open or close control instructions to the bypass valve and transmits, to the electric supercharger, a specific rotational-speed target value for determining whether the bypass valve is in the normal open state or the normal closed state, thereby determining whether the bypass valve is subject to stuck-open failure or stuck-closed failure.

The turbine housing comprising a first scroll and a second scroll for fluidically coupling the inlet and the turbine wheel. The first scroll has a first end adjacent the inlet and a second end adjacent the turbine wheel. The second scroll has a third end adjacent the inlet and a fourth end adjacent the turbine wheel. An exhaust gas diverter valve is coupled to the turbine housing restricting flow into the first scroll or the second scroll.

A boost device diverter control valve (1) has a body (2) with an inlet port (3) extending between a distal end (4) adapted to be disposed in communication with an intake of the boost device and a proximal end (5) in or adjacent the body (2). A piston chamber (6) is in communication with the proximal end (5) of the body inlet port (3) and includes a piston chamber inlet port (7). Piston chamber (6) has a piston (8) disposed therein and movable between a closed position substantially sealing the inlet port distal end (4) and an open position allowing communication between the body inlet port (4) and the piston chamber (6) where the piston (8) is resiliently biased towards the closed position. A longitudinally extending three-way solenoid valve (15) is in communication with chamber (6) and has a solenoid inlet (18) in communication with the body inlet port (3) via a body channel (19) extending between them where the solenoid (18) has a first solenoid output allowing communication between the piston chamber inlet port (7) and the piston chamber (6) and a second solenoid output allowing communication between the piston chamber (6) and a body outlet port (22). A one-way valve (24) disposed in the body outlet port (22) allowing flow therefrom.

Engine system

An engine system may include an engine having an intake line flowing an intake gas supplied to the combustion chambers; an intake manifold; a throttle valve provided at a front of the intake manifold and controlling an air amount supplied to the combustion chamber; an electric supercharger provided at the throttle valve and including a motor and an electric compressor operated by the motor to supply the supercharged air to the combustion chamber; an exhaust gas processing device purifying an exhaust gas generated in the combustion chamber; and an exhaust gas recirculation device including a recirculation line branched from the downstream portion of the exhaust gas processing device and joined to the intake line of the upstream portion of the electric compressor, an EGR cooler mounted at the recirculation line, and an EGR valve mounted at a part where the recirculation line and the intake line are joined.

A multi-stage turbo supercharging system includes: a bypass passage which bypasses a turbocharger from among a plurality of turbochargers, in an intake passage or an exhaust passage of the engine; a bypass valve disposed in the bypass passage; an operation mode selection part; a bypass valve opening degree map selection part configured to select at least one bypass valve opening degree map in accordance with the operation mode selected by the operation mode selection part, from among a plurality of bypass valve opening degree maps which represent respective relationships between a plurality of control parameters of the engine and an opening degree of the bypass valve; a bypass valve opening degree determination part configured to determine an opening degree command value for the bypass valve on the basis of the bypass valve opening degree map and control parameter information representing the plurality of control parameters; and a bypass valve opening degree control part configured to control the opening degree of the bypass valve on the basis of the opening degree command value for the bypass valve.
