Engine system with intake bypass device
An object is to provide an engine system including an intake bypass device whereby it is possible to expand the operation range of a compressor without causing the output of a turbine to become insufficient. An engine system includes an intake bypass device including a bypass channel connecting a downstream side of a compressor of a turbocharger in an intake channel and an upstream side of a turbine of the turbocharger in an exhaust channel, a bypass valve disposed in the bypass channel and configured to control a flow of compressed intake air in the bypass channel, and a heating unit for heating the compressed intake air flowing through the bypass channel.
TURBOCHARGER WITH INTEGRATED ACTUATOR
A turbocharger (1) includes a variable turbine geometry (VTG) device (20) disposed in the turbine housing (11) adjacent to the turbine wheel (4) and configured to selectively control the amount of exhaust gas delivered to the turbine wheel (4). A geared actuating mechanism (40) connects the VTG device (20) to an actuator (30) disposed outside the turbocharger bearing housing (8). The geared actuating mechanism (40) includes an actuation pivot shaft (94) that is rotatably supported in a shaft-receiving bore (25) and connected to the VTG device (20) such that at least a portion of the geared actuating mechanism (40) is disposed externally of the housing (8). A cover (75) surrounds the actuator (30) and the geared actuating mechanism (40), and forms a sealed connection with the housing (8) such that exhaust gas passing into the shaft-receiving bore (25) is prevented from escaping to the atmosphere.
A METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE ARRANGEMENT
The present invention relates to a method for controlling an internal combustion engine arrangement (100) connected to an exhaust gas aftertreatment system (200), wherein the method is arranged to control a gas heating device ( 122), as well as a gas feeding arrangement to direct a flow of intake air through the exhaust gas recirculation conduit (112) from the intake system to the exhaust system, the flow of intake air being directed through the gas heating device before the intake air enters the exhaust gas aftertreatment system, in response to determining a requested start of the internal combustion engine to heat the aftertreatment system before starting the engine.
A TURBOMACHINERY ASSEMBLY FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE USING A VENTURI APPARATUS
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provides a turbo machinery assembly for an internal combustion engine, the turbo machinery assembly including: a bypass flow compensated Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor for measuring the amount of intake air; exhaust gas or engine driven compressor operable to compress an input stream of air, the compressor having a compressed air outlet which branches into at least a first branch and a second branch; a first branch of said air outlet being connected to an engine, having a charge air cooler, with the second branch adding a secondary path and so as to enable said second branch of said air outlet to operatively control the intake manifold pressure and charge mass flow rate.
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM AND ENGINE
An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system comprises a first turbocharger (7) and a second turbocharger (6) connected in series. An outlet of a turbine (601) of the second turbocharger is connected to an exhaust pipe (9). An inlet of a compressor (602) of the second turbocharger is connected to the exhaust pipe by means of an EGR gas collection pipe (4), and an outlet of the compressor (602) of the second turbocharger is connected to an intake manifold (2) by means of a low-pressure EGR exhaust pipe (5). The system employs energy of exhaust gas to drive turbines of a two-stage turbocharging system, thereby increasing utilization of the exhaust gas and improving the economic efficiency of an engine. An engine is also disclosed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HEATING AN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM
A method for warming an aftertreatment system of an engine system while an engine of the engine system is not running comprising starting at least one of an electric compressor and an electric heater using stored electrical energy and passing air through the engine system to at least a portion of the aftertreatment system when the engine of the engine system is not running.
PARTICLE FILTER ASSEMBLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE, MOTOR VEHICLE, AND METHOD FOR REGENERATING A PARTICLE FILTER
A particle filter assembly for a motor vehicle includes a particle filter, an exhaust-gas-conducting line which opens into the particle filter, and a secondary air supply. The secondary air supply is formed separately from the exhaust-gas-conducting line and fresh air is suppliable to the particle filter via the secondary air supply.
VEHICLE HAVING A HYBRID DRIVE
A vehicle has a hybrid drive including an internal combustion engine and at least one electric motor. The hybrid drive has a charging device for generating an air flow. A charge air path guides the air flow from the charging device to the internal combustion engine. A charge air cooler is arranged in the charge air path between the charging device and the internal combustion engine. The hybrid drive has an electric battery for supplying electric power to the at least one electric motor. The effort involved in cooling the battery is reduced if the battery is incorporated into the charge air path between the charge air cooler and the internal combustion engine in such a way that the air flow can flow through and/or around it.
Turbo system control
A method of controlling a turbocharged engine system including customized and selective operation of a turbocharger bypass valve to modulate air pressure through an intake system of the engine to achieve certain desirable auditory feedback, which are deliberately generated through control of engine systems. Additionally, the method may include receiving a user input corresponding to one of a plurality of turbocharger modes. Further, the method may include, in response to receiving the user input, determining an intake air pressure of an intake manifold of the turbocharged engine system. Still further, the method may include comparing the intake air pressure of the intake manifold with a predetermined threshold. Even further, the method may include adjusting a position of a bypass valve based on the turbocharger mode corresponding to the user input and the intake air pressure in comparison to the predetermined threshold.
