Centrifugal compressor
A centrifugal compressor includes a compressor housing, an impeller wheel which compresses intake gas from an intake-air inlet, a plurality of guide vanes disposed circumferentially along an inner circumferential wall of the intake-air channel between the intake-air inlet and the impeller wheel to swirl the intake gas around the rotational axis, a central intake-air flow path formed at an inner side of the guide vanes to allow the intake gas to flow to the impeller wheel without passing through the guide vanes, and a guide-vane moving mechanism which simultaneously changes the inclination angle of the guide vanes. Guide vanes generate swirl flow at an inner circumferential housing portion of an impeller wheel to improve a surge margin and to restrict decrease in a choke flow rate.

In one example, a compressor system includes a compressor housing defining an air inlet, a shroud, and a bypass passage, a compressor wheel housed in the compressor housing and surrounded by the shroud, only a single port passing through the shroud and fluidically coupled to the bypass passage, and a ring configured to move axially to adjust a restriction of the port.
A TURBOMACHINERY ASSEMBLY FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE USING A VENTURI APPARATUS
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provides a turbo machinery assembly for an internal combustion engine, the turbo machinery assembly including: a bypass flow compensated Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor for measuring the amount of intake air; exhaust gas or engine driven compressor operable to compress an input stream of air, the compressor having a compressed air outlet which branches into at least a first branch and a second branch; a first branch of said air outlet being connected to an engine, having a charge air cooler, with the second branch adding a secondary path and so as to enable said second branch of said air outlet to operatively control the intake manifold pressure and charge mass flow rate.
Supercharger Device for an Internal Combustion Engine, and a Method for Operating Said Supercharger Device
A supercharger device for an internal combustion engine, including an exhaust gas turbocharger and a recuperation charger having a compressor turbine and an electromechanical motor-generator coupled thereto. The compressor turbine is connectable on the low-pressure side thereof to a charge air supply line and on the high-pressure side of the compressor turbine to both the charge air supply line and an exhaust gas tract of the engine. The recuperation charger is able to be switched at least between a booster operative mode and a recuperation operative mode. The recuperation charger may be operated as a compressor driven by the motor-generator for increasing pressure in the charge air supply line in the booster operative mode, or driven by at least a portion of a charge air mass flow, the exhaust gas mass flow, or both, and operated as a turbine so as to recover energy by the motor-generator.
CONTROL SYSTEM FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
In cases where an EGR device is provided in which an EGR gas is recirculated to an upstream side of a compressor, the generation of condensed water is suppressed in an intake passage at the downstream side of the compressor. In the case where the temperature of a wall surface of the intake passage estimated or detected by a temperature detector is equal to or less than a predetermined temperature, a rotational speed of a turbine is made higher than in the case where the estimated or detected temperature of the wall surface of the intake passage is higher than the predetermined temperature, and torque of an internal combustion engine is adjusted such that an amount of change in an output of the internal combustion engine at the time of the rotational speed of the turbine being thus made higher falls within a predetermined range.
Internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle and motor vehicle having such an internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine has first and second combustion chambers, first and second exhaust gas line elements, and an exhaust gas turbocharger which has a first flood, a second flood, and a third flood. A bypass device has a bypass line that can be flowed through by exhaust gas from the first and second exhaust gas line elements and via the bypass line a turbine wheel is bypassed by a first part of the exhaust gas from the first and second exhaust gas line elements. A valve device includes a first valve element, via which an amount of the exhaust gas flowing through the bypass line and bypassing the turbine wheel from the first and second exhaust gas line elements is settable. A third exhaust gas line element opens out into the third flood.
Supercharging pressure control device for internal combustion engine
The disclosure provides a supercharging pressure control device for an internal combustion engine that may suppress misfires of the internal combustion engine caused by a large amount of condensed water and freezing of an intercooler and suppress the decrease in supercharging response under the conditions that such problems are unlikely to occur. The supercharging pressure control device for the internal combustion engine includes a supercharger (turbocharger), an intercooler, a supercharging pressure control part controlling a supercharging pressure based on a target supercharging pressure, and an intake air temperature acquisition part (intake air temperature sensor) acquiring a temperature of the intake air as an intake air temperature, and executes a supercharging pressure reduction control when the intake air temperature is greater than or equal to a specified first threshold temperature or less than or equal to a specified second threshold temperature less than the first threshold temperature.
System and method for on-line recalibration of control systems
Methods and systems for controlling a system such as an engine having an airflow system. A model predictive control calculation is configured in an off-line mode, having a linear part and a non-linear part. In an on-line mode, the linear part of the MPC and/or a Hessian matrix used with the MPC is modified responsive to special modes or other operating changes or conditions. The online mode is configured to respond to changing modes or conditions without requiring recalculation of the MPC. Certain changes of conditions and modes are used to modify feedforward, while others modify responsiveness.
