INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM
The invention provides an internal combustion engine system (1) comprisingat least one combustor (3), anda first expander (4) arranged to receive exhaust gases from at least one of the at least one combustor (3), and to expand and extract energy from the exhaust gases, characterized in that the system comprises a second expander (5) arranged to receive exhaust gases from the first expander (4), and to expand and extract energy from the exhaust gases.
Lubricant coolers for marine engines
A marine engine has a cylinder block comprising first and second banks of cylinders disposed along a longitudinal axis and extending transversely with respect to each other in a V-shape so as to define a valley there between; and a lubricant cooler located in the valley and extending parallel to the longitudinal axis. The lubricant cooler has a lubricant conduit that conveys engine lubricant parallel to the longitudinal axis and then transversely to the longitudinal axis to the cylinder block. The lubricant cooler further has a cooling conduit that conveys cooling fluid alongside the lubricant conduit to thereby cool the lubricant conduit and the engine lubricant therein.

Dual-angle exhaust manifold
An exhaust manifold for an internal combustion piston engine with a row of at least two cylinders inclined from the vertical. The exhaust manifold has plural exhaust stack assemblies and a manifold plenum with an outlet. Each of the plural exhaust stack assemblies comprises a leader pipe and an exhaust connector, with a first end of each leader pipe being joined to a first end of the exhaust connector of the exhaust stack assembly, and a second end of each exhaust connector being joined to the manifold plenum. Each leader pipe is joined to a manifold flange that is adapted for joining to the internal combustion engine to receive exhaust gases from the cylinders of the engine. Each leader pipe is joined in a vertical plane to the manifold flange at a first angle so that the plural exhaust stack assemblies are approximately horizontally oriented when joined to the internal combustion engine, and each leader pipe is joined in a horizontal plane to the manifold flange at a second angle inclined toward the outlet.
Generator set
The invention relates to a generator set, in particular a generator set of a hybrid vehicle, with a two-cylinder piston engine (1), which has a crankshaft housing (10), in which two counter-rotating crankshafts (11, 12) are arranged, which are connected by means of piston rods (13) to pistons (18, 19), which are guided inside two cylinders (21, 22) in a tandem arrangement, wherein at least one crankshaft (11, 12) is drivingly connected to a generator (41, 42), and wherein the piston engine (1) comprises a cylinder head (20), which is connected to the crankshaft housing (10), wherein the piston engine (1) has a lower-mounted camshaft (30), and the cylinder head (20) can be connected to the crankshaft housing (10) in at least two positions, in particular positions rotated through 180 relative to each other. Furthermore, the invention relates to a vehicle with such a generator set.
Internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine according to the invention comprises at least two engine blocks which are coupled to one another and each of which includes at least two cylinders, each cylinder being connected to a common drive shaft via a transmission and a clutch. If there is a problem with one engine block, same can be disconnected from the drive shaft so that the engine can continue to operate by means of the other engine block.
Exhaust gas temperature assist for two-cycle uniflow scavenged diesel engine at lower engine loads
A method of raising exhaust gas temperatures of a two-cycle uniflow scavenged engine at lower loads. At lower loads, the exhaust valves are activated with a frequency that is less frequent than every engine cycle. This retains exhaust within the cylinder for one or more cycles, and when the exhaust valves are again activated, the exhaust temperature will be elevated. For engines having a means for controlling intake manifold pressure, such as a compressor having variable speed or a means for bleeding off compressor output, intake manifold pressure can be reduced at low loads, which also has the effect of elevating exhaust temperatures.
ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM FOR A GENERATOR ENGINE
A standby generator includes an alternator to produce electricity for distribution to an electrical system, and an air-cooled internal combustion engine driving the alternator. The air-cooled internal combustion engine includes one or more cylinders, one or more spark plugs each configured to initiate combustion in a corresponding cylinder, and one or more ignition coils each coupled to a respective spark plug of the one or more spark plugs to provide a voltage to the respective spark plug. The standby generator also includes a battery system electrically coupled to the one or more ignition coils to provide power thereto, and a digital ignition module wiring the battery system to each of the one or more ignition coils to control operation of the one or more spark plugs.
