Method and engine controller for diagnosing waste gate valve malfunction and related power generation system
A method for diagnosing a waste gate valve malfunction in a power generation system is presented. The method includes determining an actual pressure differential across a throttle valve. The method further includes determining an estimated pressure differential across the throttle valve based on one or more first operating parameters of the power generation system. Furthermore, the method includes determining an absolute difference between the actual pressure differential and the estimated pressure differential. Moreover, the method also includes comparing the absolute difference with a threshold value and if the absolute difference is greater than the threshold value, determining an operating condition of the throttle valve. Additionally, the method includes determining whether the waste gate valve has malfunctioned based on the determined operating condition of the throttle valve. An engine controller and a power generation system employing the method are also presented.
WORK MACHINE FOR LESSENING DAMAGE RESULTING FROM AN OBJECT COMING INTO CONTACT WITH WORK PORTION
A work machine determines, when a request to restart an engine is made, whether or not a reason indicated by stop information stored in a memory is a reason related to locking of the work portion. The machine sets an operation mode of the engine and a work portion to a safe mode if it determines that the reason indicated by the stop information is a reason related to locking of the work portion. The safe mode is an operation mode for lessening damage resulting from causing the engine and the work portion to work during the work portion locked or damage resulting from an object coming into contact with the work portion during the engine and the work portion working.
Method for operating a system in which a manipulated variable of an actuator element can be controlled
A method (10) is described for operating a system (12), for example a hydraulic or pneumatic system (12), in which a manipulated variable of an actuator element (16) can be controlled, and in which at least one variable (26) which is dependent on the manipulated variable of the actuator element (16) can be determined, wherein the manipulated variable of the actuator element (16) is modulated with a first periodic signal (22), and wherein a measurement signal (30) which characterizes the at least one variable (26) is evaluated using at least one second periodic signal (47).
Determination criterion for engine torque control device and method
Determination criteria for an excessive torque state are changed based on a predetermined vehicle speed related parameter. The determination criteria are changed such that when the vehicle speed related parameter is a value corresponding to a relatively high vehicle speed state, the excessive torque state is difficult to determine compared to when the vehicle speed related parameter is a value corresponding to a relatively low vehicle speed state.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM
A control unit controls a combustion state of an internal combustion engine in accordance with a drive torque requested by a driver. The control unit performs a switching control to switch at least a combustion state between lean-burn combustion and stoichiometric combustion. A monitor unit performs torque monitoring to determine abnormality of a request torque, which is requested to the internal combustion engine, and a generated torque of the internal combustion engine based on the request torque and an estimation torque, which is an estimation value of an actual torque of the internal combustion engine. A combustion state determining unit determines whether the combustion state in the control unit is the lean-burn combustion or the stoichiometric combustion. A computing unit computes the estimation torque in accordance with the combustion state determined by the combustion state determining unit.
Vehicle and control method for vehicle
A vehicle includes two accelerator position sensors and an electronic control unit. The two accelerator position sensors are configured to detect accelerator operation amounts. The electronic control unit is configured to perform drive control based on the accelerator operation amounts from the two accelerator position sensors. The electronic control unit is configured to, when failure occurs in one accelerator position sensor out of the two accelerator position sensors, perform the drive control based on the accelerator operation amount from the other accelerator position sensor out of the two accelerator position sensors, the accelerator operation amount being restricted by an accelerator operation amount upper limit that has a tendency of becoming larger as the vehicle speed is larger.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING DETECTING AN EMPTY CATALYST HOUSING
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing the presence or absence of a catalyst substrate within a catalyst can or housing. The methods and systems described a persistence of excitation metric that is a basis for judging whether or not the catalyst can is empty. If it is determined that the catalyst can or housing is empty, mitigating control actions may be performed via a controller.
THROTTLE DEVICE
A throttle device includes: a default mechanism. The default mechanism includes: a defining portion arranged on the body to define the default position; a first rotation body which rotates integrally with the valve shaft; a second rotation body which can rotate relative to the valve shaft and which engages with the defining portion to limit the rotation in a valve-closing direction; a first urging spring which is interposed between the first rotation body and the body and urges the first rotation body in the valve-closing direction; and a second urging spring which is interposed between the first rotation body and the second rotation body, and urges so as to draw the first rotation body in a valve-opening direction and draw the second rotation body in the valve-closing direction to engage the two with each other and to maintain the engagement during the non-operation of the drive source.
Safety system for engine shutdown, and methods of implementing the same
A method for manufacturing engine powered machinery having a fuel cut functionality to promote more rapid shutdown of the rotating parts of the engine powered machinery. In one aspect, the method is implemented by assembling a wiring harness disposed exclusively on the engine which are configured to simultaneously disable one or more ignition coils and prevent a fuel-air mixer from supplying a mixture of air and fuel to the engine upon activation of a safety switch. In alternate aspects, the method further comprises a stator brake which is activated by the safety switch to provide additional braking torque on the engine. These features bring the machinery to a rapid halt, further enhancing safety.
METHOD OF DIAGNOSING A PROPULSION SYSTEM OF A VEHICLE, AND A SYSTEM THEREFOR
A method of diagnosing a propulsion system implements a top-down hierarchical examination procedure, in which the propulsion system is analyzed as a whole to determine if the propulsion system is healthy. Data from a first set of vehicle sensors is compared to a system-healthy data cluster to determine if the propulsion system is healthy or unhealthy. If the propulsion system is unhealthy, then a plurality of subsystems of the propulsion system are each analyzed at a first examination level using selective data from the sensors to identify one of the subsystems as an unhealthy subsystem. A plurality of component systems of the unhealthy subsystem are then analyzed at a second examination level using other selective data from the sensors to identify one of the component systems of the unhealthy subsystem as an unhealthy component system.
