Control device for internal combustion engine
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an intake air amount controller and a variable valve controller. The intake air amount controller includes an exhaust manifold pressure calculator, an engine intake air amount calculator, a volumetric efficiency correction coefficient calculator, a cylinder intake air amount calculator, an exhaust gas flow rate calculator, and a cylinder intake air amount controller. The volumetric efficiency correction coefficient calculator calculates a volumetric efficiency correction coefficient based on a pressure ratio between an intake manifold pressure and an exhaust manifold pressure, a rotational speed of the internal combustion engine, and an actuation state of at least one of an intake valve and an exhaust valve.
Engine control device
An engine control device is provided, which includes an engine body where a cylinder is formed, an exhaust passage through which exhaust gas discharged from the engine body circulates, a NO.sub.x sensor disposed in the exhaust passage and configured to detect a concentration of NO.sub.x in the exhaust gas, an injector configured to change an air-fuel ratio inside the cylinder, an in-cylinder temperature changer configured to change a temperature inside the cylinder, and a controller configured to control the injector and the exhaust shutter valve. The controller controls the injector based on a detection value of the NO.sub.x sensor to variably set the air-fuel ratio inside the cylinder, and when a particular condition that the air-fuel ratio inside the cylinder is leaner than a preset upper limit is satisfied, and causes the in-cylinder temperature changer to raise the temperature inside the cylinder.
Method and system for engine knock detection
Methods and systems are disclosed for operating an engine that includes a knock control system. The method and system may increase opportunities to learn one or more engine knock background noise levels via changing poppet valve timing and/or fuel injection timing. The method and system may also improve knock detection if knock sensor degradation is suspected.
METHOD FOR CVVD STARTUP CONTROL USING DUAL DURATION AND A CVVD SYSTEM THEREOF
A method for continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) startup control may include a duration time delay control to prevent an engine revolutions per minute (RPM) variation through applying of a delay time with respect to a startup duration in the case where the startup duration at an initial startup is switched to a driving region duration after the startup lapse by a CVVD controller.
CONTROLLER WITH A LEARNING CAPABILITY AND AUTOMATIC EXPLORATION FUNCTION OF AN OPERATING PARAMETER SPACE
The invention relates to a motor controller for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, comprising a control unit for setting one or more control variables on the basis of one or more measured variables according to a stored control scheme; wherein the control unit is designed to modify the stored control scheme when the control unit is used as intended with the operational internal combustion engine, which is being controlled by the motor controller, according to a specified learning algorithm, namely using at least one feedback parameter which is associated with an optimization criterion and is provided to the control unit, in order to provide an improved control of the internal combustion engine.
ROCKER ARM MECHANISM
A rocker arm mechanism capable of selectively adjusting a timing of opening or closing an intake or an exhaust valve of a plurality of exhaust valves by shifting according to a crankshaft angle and by gradually changing a maximum valve opening, or electively, allows for engine braking by decompression by opening the plurality of exhaust valves before a compression stroke in a plurality of internal combustion engines.
Method for controlling of valve timing of continuous variable valve duration engine
A method for controlling intake and exhaust valves of an engine includes: controlling, by an intake continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) device and an exhaust CVVT device, opening and closing timings of the intake valve and exhaust valves; determining, by a controller, a target opening duration of the intake and exhaust valves based on an engine load and an engine speed; modifying, by an intake continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) device and by an exhaust two-stage variable valve duration device, current opening and closing timings of the intake valve and exhaust valve based on the target opening durations. In particular, the exhaust two-stage VVD device switches a current opening duration of the exhaust valve to a first exhaust opening duration or a second exhaust opening duration which is shorter than the first opening duration based on the target opening duration of the exhaust valve.
Method for operating an internal combustion engine, and internal combustion engine
A method for operating an internal combustion engine, involving the following steps: determining a target lambda value and measuring an actual lambda value for combustion in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine; establishing, in accordance with the target lambda value and the actual lambda value, a point in time for an intake valve associated with the combustion chamber to open; and opening the intake valve at the established point in time.
METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR DETERMINING EXHAUST MASS FLOW THROUGH A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER, AND FOR CONTROLLING ONE OR MORE ENGINE COMPONENTS AS A FUNCTION OF DETERMINED EXHAUST MASS FLOW
A method is provided for determining exhaust mass flow through a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in an engine arrangement including an engine and an exhaust after treatment system (EATS) comprising the DPF. The method comprises determining soot loading and soot distribution in the DPF, measuring pressure drop over the DPF, measuring pressure in the DPF, measuring temperature in the DPF, and determining exhaust mass flow through the DPF as a function of the measured pressure drop, the measured pressure, the measured temperature, and the soot loading and soot distribution. An arrangement is also provided for determining exhaust mass flow through a diesel particulate filter. A method for controlling one or more engine components, and an engine, are also provided.
System and method for variable compression ratio engine
Methods and systems are provided for improving calibration of a variable compression ratio engine. Cylinder-to-cylinder compression ratio variations are detected and accounted for by comparing cylinder fuel flow and IMEP at each compression ratio setting. Dilution parameters including EGR and VCT schedule are also calibrated to account for the cylinder-to-cylinder compression ratio variations.
