SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR PURGING AN AIR INTAKE SYSTEM HYDROCARBON TRAP TO A FUEL VAPOR CANISTER
A method for a vehicle engine is presented, wherein during a first condition, a vehicle controller is placed in a sleep mode following a vehicle-off event and then awoken following a duration, at which time contents of an air intake system hydrocarbon trap are purged to a fuel vapor canister by operating an electric motor to rotate the vehicle engine in a reverse direction. Rotating the vehicle engine in a reverse direction causes atmospheric air to enter an intake of the engine via an exhaust of the engine, desorbing hydrocarbons bound to the air intake system hydrocarbon trap. By porting the desorbed hydrocarbons to the fuel vapor canister, bleed emissions from the air intake system hydrocarbon trap may be reduced.
Method and system for estimating fuel system integrity
Methods and systems are provided for operating a fuel system configured to deliver a gaseous fuel to an engine. While the engine is shutdown, diagnostic routines may be performed to identify fuel system leaks or breaches. When the engine is subsequently restarted, fuel rail pre-priming is adjusted based on the presence of fuel system leaks.
CONTROL DEVICE FOR VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE
A controller includes a control unit which is configured to execute a coast stop control. The coast stop control is configured to perform automatic stopping of the drive source while the vehicle is traveling, when a permitting condition is satisfied, the permitting condition including a condition that a speed ratio R of the variator is lower than a first threshold R1 while the lock-up clutch is in an engaged phase. The control unit is configured to prohibit execution of the coast stop control in a case in which an input-output rotation speed difference of the torque converter is equal to or more than a predetermined value when the lock-up clutch is in the engaged phase.
START CONTROLLER FOR ENGINE
Provided is a start controller for an engine capable of reducing torque of a starter consumed to start the engine. The start controller includes a stop position sensor that detects a position of a piston in each cylinder at an engine stop time, an intake pressure sensor that detects an intake pressure in an intake passage, and a processor that determines whether the position of the piston in each of the cylinders detected by the stop position sensor is within a specified target range after the engine is stopped. In the case where it is determined that the position of the piston in each of the cylinders after the engine stop is out of the target range and the intake pressure detected by the intake pressure sensor is lower than an atmospheric pressure, the engine is started by a motor even when an engine start condition is not satisfied.
STOP POSITION CONTROLLER FOR ENGINE
An intake variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) that collectively changes an intake valve close timing as a close timing of a plurality of intake valves and a control device that controls an engine including a plurality of injectors and the intake VVT are provided. When a specified engine stop condition is satisfied, a fuel cut is performed to stop a fuel supply into a plurality of cylinders by the injector. After the fuel cut, the intake VVT is controlled such that a retarded amount of the intake valve close timing immediately before a stop of a stop-time compression stroke cylinder as a cylinder stopped in a compression stroke from intake bottom dead center is larger than a retarded amount of the intake valve close timing immediately before a stop of a stop-time expansion stroke cylinder as a cylinder stopped in an expansion stroke from the intake bottom dead center.
Apparatus for diagnosing fuel pressure sensor characteristic fault
After an ECU is activated by turning a key switch on, if a total intake air quantity, which is indicative of the engine temperature immediately before turn-off of the key switch, exceeds a set intake air quantity indicative of a full warm-up determination temperature, and a soak time exceeds a set key-off time, it is determined that the condition for executing a diagnosis of a fuel pressure sensor is satisfied.
Crankshaft rotating angle controlling system for controlling crankshaft rotating angle and crankshaft rotating angle controlling method for controlling the same
A crankshaft rotating angle controlling method and a crankshaft rotating angle controlling system are provided. A shut-off signal is obtained, and an engine speed is judged. If the engine speed is lower than a specific value, a generator is set in a driving mode at an ending point of a missing tooth signal in a gear pulse signal, such that the generator in the driving mode drives a crankshaft to exceed a top-dead-center of a cylinder. When the crankshaft arrives at a bottom-dead-center of the cylinder, the generator is set to be in a holding mode of an error phase of a three-phase current. Through the generator in the driving mode, the given error phase of the three-phase current stops the generator immediately and the crankshaft is fixed within an angle range of a default stop position.
Sensor-Based Fire Detection in a Fluid Conduit
A controller for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine, and a device for detecting a fire in a fluid conduit, the device having a fluid state sensor for detecting a state variable of a fluid that is conducted in the fluid conduit, are provided. The determination of a fire situation is performed in a manner dependent on a signal of the fluid state sensor.
COMPRESSOR UNIT AND METHOD FOR OPERATING THE SAME
The present invention relates firstly to a method for operating a compressor powered by an internal combustion engine for compressing air. Furthermore, the invention relates to a compressor, which is suitable for executing the method according to the invention. A first turbocharger for supplying pre-compressed air to the internal combustion engine is disposed in an exhaust flow of the internal combustion engine. Furthermore, a second turbocharger for pre-compression of the air to be compressed by the compressor is disposed in the exhaust flow of the internal combustion engine. The method according to the invention first comprises a step in which a monitoring of a pressure of the pre-compressed air generated by the first turbocharger occurs during an operating state of the compressor. In a further step of the method, a termination of the operating state occurs as soon as the monitored pressure falls below a previously determined value.
ENGINE IDLE REDUCTION CONTROL APPARATUS
An engine idle reduction control apparatus includes a first data acquiring unit, a detecting unit, a first determining unit, a control unit, and a second determining unit. The detecting unit is configured to detect a traffic circle, on the basis of traveling environment data acquired by the first data acquiring unit. The control unit is configured to execute an idle reduction, in a case where the first determining unit determines that a control condition for a pre-stop idle reduction control is satisfied. The second determining unit is configured to determine whether a prohibition condition for the pre-stop idle reduction control is satisfied, in a case where the traffic circle is detected. The control unit is configured to prohibit the idle reduction even in a case where the control condition is determined to be satisfied, on a condition that the prohibition condition is determined to be satisfied.
