Method for controlling an internal combustion engine of a hybrid powertrain
The disclosure relates to a method for controlling an internal combustion engine configured with a belt starter generator or an electric machine of a hybrid powertrain. The internal combustion engine includes a cylinder and a piston, which together delimit a working chamber. The internal combustion engine includes a variable valve actuation system for actuation of inlet valves of the working chambers, controlling the opening time and/or the closing time and/or the lift. A strategy for operating the internal combustion engine with a negative drive torque or when shutting down or when starting up the internal combustion includes controlling the inlet valves of individual or all working chambers in such a way that the transfer of fresh air from an intake section to an exhaust manifold is controlled and that the drag torque of the internal combustion is reduced.
Optimizing An SCR Catalytic Converter State When Parking A Vehicle With A Diesel Engine
The disclosure relates to a method for optimizing the state of a catalytic converter in a vehicle with a diesel engine when parking the vehicle, the method comprising establishing that a switch-off process for switching off the diesel engine has been initiated, increasing an NH3 feed rate to a first value in order to store a surplus of NH3 in the catalytic converter, stopping the NH3 feed when the speed of the diesel engine falls below a speed threshold or a measured NH3 emission exceeds an emission threshold, and completing the switch-off process. The disclosure also relates to an engine controller and to a computer program.

Vehicle control apparatus and vehicle equipped with vehicle control apparatus
A vehicle control apparatus includes: a VSA-ECU and an ESB-ECU that perform braking control to apply a braking torque in response to a brake operation by a driver of a host vehicle, and also perform brake holding control to hold the braking torque even when the brake operation is cancelled; and an engine control unit that performs idling stop control to stop driving of an engine that is a drive source of the host vehicle when a stop condition is satisfied, including that a vehicle speed of the host vehicle enters a predetermined low vehicle speed region, and also performs restart control to restart the engine when a predetermined restart condition is satisfied. The engine control unit prohibits execution of the idling stop control during execution of the brake holding control.
SENSOR SYSTEM, AND SENSOR SYSTEM FAILURE DETECTING METHOD
A sensor system (1, 1S) including a current DA converter (42) outputting a control current (Ip) of a sensor element (3S), a control unit (4C) generating a control current instruction value (Ipcmd) corresponding to magnitude of the control current and inputting this instruction value to the current DAC, an instruction value sequence generating unit (47) generating, instead of the control current instruction value, an inspection instruction value sequence (RChcmd) in which predetermined inspection current instruction values (Chcmd) inputted to the current DAC are arranged in order and by which failure of the current DAC can be detected, an inspection current detection unit (71) detecting an inspection current value (Ichv) of an inspection current (Ich) outputted from the current DAC, and a failure detection unit (8) detecting failure of the current DAC from an inspection current value sequence (RIchv) in which the inspection current values are arranged in order of detection.
CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTING SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE-BASED MACHINES
An internal combustion engine-based system includes an internal combustion engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes an engine interrupt connected to the engine. The engine interrupt is configured to selectively stop the operation of the engine. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a controller in communication with the engine interrupt. The internal combustion engine-based system includes a carbon monoxide detector in communication with the controller. The controller uses the engine interrupt to stop the operation of the engine when the carbon monoxide detector provides the controller with signals that are representative of a carbon monoxide level proximate the internal combustion engine that together form a trend of building carbon monoxide amounts over a set time interval.

Aspects of the present invention relate to a controller (104) and method (400) for controlling operation of an internal combustion engine (101). The controller (104) is configured to: receive a first request signal indicative of a request to stop fuel being supplied to the engine (101), and cause an intake valve (301) of a cylinder (103) of the internal combustion engine (101) to remain closed during the current revolution of the internal combustion engine (101) and revolutions of the internal combustion engine (101) immediately following the current revolution of the internal combustion engine (101) in dependence on at least one of: the intake valve (301) being closed at the time of receiving the first request signal; or a next opening of the intake valve having not been scheduled. The controller (104) is also configured to cause injection of fuel into the cylinder (103) and subsequently cause the intake valve (301) to remain closed during revolutions of the internal combustion engine (101) immediately following a next closing of the intake valve (301), in dependence on at least one of: the intake valve (301) being open at the time of receiving the first request signal; and a next opening of the intake valve (301) having already been scheduled at the time of receiving the first request signal and said next opening of the intake valve (301) is to be performed.
HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL METHOD AND HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL DEVICE
A hybrid vehicle includes a canister that adsorbs evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank for an internal combustion engine. The hybrid vehicle can drive a drive wheel even when the internal combustion engine is stopped. When the internal combustion engine of the hybrid vehicle is stopped and a prescribed set of conditions is satisfied, the internal combustion engine is rotated by the generator. When the internal combustion engine of the hybrid vehicle is rotated by the generator, the evaporative fuel adsorbed in the canister is supplied to the upstream side of an upstream side exhaust catalytic converter device. In the hybrid vehicle, the introduced evaporative fuel as reducing agent is adsorbed in the upstream side exhaust catalytic converter device and a downstream side exhaust catalytic converter device.
