AIR-CONDITIONING CONTROL DEVICE AND VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM
The air-conditioning control device is configured to control an air conditioner for a vehicle having a radiant heater and to output a cancel signal that allows an engine, which has been stopped in response to an idling stop control, to restart. The radiant heater is configured to be supplied with power to heat an occupant in a vehicle compartment of the vehicle. The air conditioner is configured to heat an interior of the vehicle compartment using cooling water for the engine. The air-conditioning control device is configured to extend a stop time from stopping the engine in response to the idling stop control to outputting the cancel signal, which allows the engine having been stopped in response to the idling stop control to restart, to be longer with the radiant heater being operated than with the radiant heater being stopped.
IDLING STOP CONTROL APPARATUS AND FAILURE DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
An idling stop control apparatus of an embodiment includes: an idling stop condition satisfaction determination section that determines whether an idling stop condition, which is a predetermined condition for stopping idling of an engine of a vehicle, is satisfied; an idling stop prohibition determination section that determines that, if the idling stop condition is satisfied, an idling stop prohibition condition is satisfied due to occurrence of one or more specific idling stop prohibition factors due to which idling stop is prohibited from being performed; and a number of times of prohibition counter that counts a number of times of prohibition, which is a number of times that the idling stop prohibition determination section has determined that the idling stop prohibition condition has been satisfied.
Vehicle engine operation
Disclosed is a system for detecting an operating state of a vehicle engine. The system comprises: an input coupled to a power line of a vehicle; means to filter out relatively high frequency transient noise components of a signal received from the power line; a first detector for receiving the filtered signal and detecting when transient noise associated with the power line rises above a first threshold and generating a first detection signal in response thereto; a second detector for receiving the filtered signal and detecting when the transient noise falls below a second threshold, which is lower than the first threshold, and generating a second detection signal in response thereto; and means for generating a first output signal in response to the first detection signal and a second output signal in response to the second detection signal.
Positive air shutoff valve maintenance
A method and system of periodically cycling an air shutoff valve, upon a pre-determined length of time elapsing since the last valve cycle; or upon the cumulative run time of an engine since the last valve cycle exceeding a pre-determined value.
Methods and systems for aging a fuel tank in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle
Methods and systems are provided for aging a new plastic fuel tank in a vehicle. In one example, during a plug-in event to recharge a battery of the vehicle, the fuel tank is isolated and the fuel pump is actuated to agitate fuel within the tank and increase fuel vapors until the plastic fuel tank becomes aged to a predetermined degree by fuel vapors generated therein. In this manner, the fuel tank is aged more rapidly, resulting in more accurate fuel level readings and less noise and vibration.
Engine
In a case where a control device receives a stop signal instructing stopping of an engine and the control device determines that the engine temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature based on a signal from a timer or based on a signal from a cooling water temperature sensor, an operation control is maintained until the control device determines that the engine temperature is the predetermined temperature or higher. This way, an engine is provided which is capable of restraining generation of blowby condensate water without stopping a cooling water pump during the operation of the engine.
SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
An engine diagnostic system includes a control system having a controller operatively connected to an engine. A monitoring system has a sensor operatively connected to the engine. A diagnostic system is operatively connected to the engine. The diagnostic system is configured to implement a sensor diagnostic procedure that includes a sensor health test. The sensor health test includes comparing a measured value of a sensor to an expected value and determining the health of the sensor based on the difference between the measured value and the expected value. The sensor diagnostic procedure can also include telematics data analysis.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PARTICULATE FILTER CLEANING
Methods and systems are provided for cleaning an exhaust particulate filter by routing air via the exhaust particulate filter during a vehicle-off condition. In one example, during vehicle-off conditions, a turbocharger may be reverse rotated via an electric motor or an engine may be reverse rotated via an electric machine to route air via the exhaust particulate filter and the soot collected from the particulate filter may then be deposited on an air filter coupled to the intake manifold. During a subsequent engine start, the soot from the intake air filter may be routed to the engine cylinders for combustion.
Automatic engine start-stop control during driver exit events
A vehicle includes an engine and a controller programmed to autostop and autostart the engine. The controller is further programmed to, in response to receiving signals indicative of a driver exiting the vehicle while the engine is auto stopped, autostart the engine, and after expiration of a predetermined duration, autostop the engine and inhibit vehicle propulsion until an ignition cycle is initiated.
Direct injection fuel system with controlled accumulator energy storage
A direct injection fuel supply system, in one exemplary implementation, includes a lift fuel pump, a positive displacement pump, at least one fuel injector and an accumulator assembly. The lift pump is adapted to be in fluid communication with a supply of fuel and the positive displacement pump is in fluid communication with and downstream of the lift pump. The at least one injector is in fluid communication with an outlet of the positive displacement pump via a high pressure fuel line. The accumulator assembly includes an accumulator and a valve, where the valve is in direct fluid communication with the high pressure fuel line and the injector. The valve is selectively controlled to at least one of an open state providing fluid communication between the accumulator and the high pressure fuel line and a closed state blocking fluid communication between the accumulator and the high pressure fuel line.
