METHOD FOR STARTING A DIRECT-INJECTION INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE BY ADAPTING THE QUANTITY OF FUEL INJECTED
A method for starting a direct-injection internal combustion engine of a vehicle includes: rotating the high-pressure injection pump by a starter; measuring fuel pressure delivered by the pump, taken at two successive compression top dead centers of the pump operating in maximum output mode; establishing the pressure gradient of the fuel, on an angular reference system, based on the two successive pressure measurements; comparing the established gradient with a predefined bijective table that respectively matches a plurality of quantities of fuel to be injected and a plurality of pressure gradients; and adapting the quantity of fuel injected during the starting phase before the engine reaches steady operating speed, depending on the result of the comparison, in order to inject a quantity of fuel that corresponds, in the predefined bijective table, to the established pressure gradient, upon authorization of the first injection given by the engine control unit.

Work Machine, Power Unit, and Diesel Engine of Work Machine
Provided are a work machine, a power unit, and a diesel engine of a work machine that make it possible to reduce emitted noxious substances to levels below reference values stipulated by exhaust gas regulations in advanced countries and regions while also omitting or simplifying a post-treatment device. A hydraulic pump is driven by a diesel engine that limits maximum output torque in a low revolution speed region lower than a high revolution speed region including a rated revolution speed in such a manner that the maximum output torque has a characteristic of intermediate torque lower than torque of a maximum output horsepower point at the rated revolution speed, and a hydraulic actuator is driven by hydraulic fluid delivered from the hydraulic pump.
Robust control of rolling engine start-stop
Rolling engine start-stop (RESS) system and methods for a vehicle include a set of sensors configured to measure a set of operating parameters of the vehicle comprising at least (i) driver input via brake pedal of the vehicle, (ii) vehicle speed, and (iii) a steering angle of the vehicle and a controller configured to, based on the set of operating parameters, determine a target vehicle speed for stopping an engine of the vehicle, and based on the steering angle of the vehicle, selectively stopping the engine of the vehicle when the vehicle speed falls to the determined target vehicle speed, wherein stopping the engine of the vehicle at the determined target vehicle speed decreases noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) caused by stopping the engine.
Engine device
An engine device includes: an engine; and a control device that executes a return rich control that controls the engine so that an air-fuel ratio becomes rich over a predetermined period after the engine returns from the fuel cut. When the engine is intermittently stopped during the execution of the return rich control, the return rich control is executed for a period shorter than the predetermined period after the engine is restarted. Thus, when the engine is intermittently stopped during the execution of the return rich control and the engine is restarted thereafter, it is possible to suppress a total period of the return rich control from becoming long. As a result, it is possible to suppress an increase in the amount of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas and suppress deterioration of emissions.
Method and system for improving engine starting
An engine system and method for improving engine starting are disclosed. In one example, engine port throttles are adjusted differently during automatic and operator initiated engine starts. The system and method may improve engine torque control during an engine start.
System for supplying fuel to an engine
A fuel-supply system has a fuel pump, a pressure controller, a signal output device and a power switch. The pressure controller adjusts the observed fuel pressure of the fuel and may electronically communicate with a motor driving the fuel pump to regulate the supply of fuel from a fuel tank of the fuel-supply system to an engine. In detail, the pressure controller performs feedback control of a voltage applied to the motor such that the pressure of a fuel pumped from the fuel pump approaches to have a first target and/or ideal fuel pressure value. Further, the signal output device outputs the first target fuel pressure value to the pressure controller. Activation of the power switch supplies power, from a power source, to the pressure controller, the motor and the signal output device. Further, the pressure controller may perform feedback control based on a second target fuel pressure value.
Method for controlling vehicle fuel pump
A method for controlling fuel pump of vehicle includes sensing a vehicle door lock release signal, detecting a fuel pressure in a fuel line, and actuating the fuel pump so that the fuel pressure arrives at a predetermined target pressure when the detected fuel pressure is below a predetermined actuation pressure.
