Fuel injection system and method for a vehicle propulsion system
A fuel injection system for a vehicle propulsion system includes an injector driver module that applies power to a fuel injector of an engine in the vehicle propulsion system for a fuel injection event, a voltage measuring module that measures first and second voltages at first and second electrical connectors of the fuel injector, a voltage difference module that determines a difference between the first and second voltages, and a diagnostic module with a pattern based neural network that determines whether the fuel injector injected fuel based on the difference between the first and second voltages.
Drive system and drive method for fuel injection valves
A drive control circuitry and an electronic control circuitry for controlling energization of a plurality of fuel injection valves. The plurality of fuel injection valves including a second fuel injection valve currently injecting fuel and a first fuel injection valve which, of the plurality of fuel injection valves, was last energized before the second fuel injection valve. When an energization start interval between a start of energization of the first fuel injection valve and a start of energization of the second fuel injection valve is longer than or equal to a peak reaching time of the first fuel injection valve, an energization time of the second fuel injection valve is extended as the energization start interval reduces. When the energization start interval is shorter than the peak reaching time, the energization time of the second fuel injection valve is reduced as the energization start interval reduces.

The invention relates to a method for operating a piston pump, which is driven by means of a coil (1) of an electromagnet, wherein a piston (2) of the piston pump can be moved against a restoring force by means of the electromagnet, wherein a voltage (U) is applied to the coil (1) during a switch-on duration such that a current (I) flows through the coil (1) and the piston (2) is accelerated, wherein two different quenching methods are used for the current (I) in the coil (1).
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING A LIFT PUMP
Methods and systems are provided for operating a lift pump of an engine fuel system. In one example, a method may comprise predicting when a fuel rail pressure will decrease below a threshold assuming that a lift pump remains off. The method may further comprise powering on the lift pump before the fuel rail pressure decreases below to the threshold to prevent fuel rail pressure from decreasing below the threshold.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CHARACTERIZING A PORT FUEL INJECTOR
Methods and systems are provided for calibrating engine port injectors. After pressurizing a low pressure fuel rail, a lift pump may be disabled and port injector variability may be correlated with a measured fuel rail pressure drop at each port injection event by sweeping injection pressure while maintaining injection voltage, and then sweeping injection voltage while maintaining injection pressure. A port injector variability map learned as a function of injection voltage and injection pressure is then transformed into a map learned as a function of injection current and injection pressure by accounting for injector variability caused due to changes in injector temperature.

DRIVE DEVICE FOR FUEL INJECTION DEVICE
The objective of the present invention is to correct deviation in the injection amount and changes in the injection timing when the voltage of a high-voltage source for a drive device decreases. This drive device for a fuel injection device is equipped with a function whereby, when the pulse width of the injection pulse is set to an energization time 815 that closes a valve after a drive current has been switched to a maintenance current, the injection pulse width when the voltage of a high-voltage source has decreased is corrected so as to be longer than the injection pulse width when the voltage of the high-voltage source has not decreased, and, when the pulse width of the injection pulse is set to an energization time 804 that closes the valve before the drive current has been switched to the maintenance current, the absolute value of the amount of correction of the injection pulse width is made smaller than when the injection pulse width is set to the energization time 815 that closes the valve after the drive current has been switched to the maintenance current.
