THROTTLE CONTROLLED INTAKE SYSTEM

A throttle-controlled intake system is disclosed that provides a driver of a vehicle with greater control over engine functions and vehicle performance. The throttle-controlled intake system includes a control module that is coupled with an aircharger air intake. The control module processes input signals from a throttle pedal of the vehicle and sends modified throttle position signals to a throttle body of the vehicle so as to increase throttle responsiveness of the vehicle. The throttle-controlled intake system further includes a wiring harness and a signal adjuster. The wiring harness electrically couples the control module with the throttle pedal and the throttle body. The control module sends signals directly to the throttle body of the engine, bypassing an electronic control unit of the vehicle. The signal adjuster includes a rheostat that enables manual adjustment of the throttle responsiveness of the vehicle.

A method of controlling a turbocharged engine system including customized and selective operation of a turbocharger bypass valve to modulate air pressure through an intake system of the engine to achieve certain desirable auditory feedback, which are deliberately generated through control of engine systems. Additionally, the method may include receiving a user input corresponding to one of a plurality of turbocharger modes. Further, the method may include, in response to receiving the user input, determining an intake air pressure of an intake manifold of the turbocharged engine system. Still further, the method may include comparing the intake air pressure of the intake manifold with a predetermined threshold. Even further, the method may include adjusting a position of a bypass valve based on the turbocharger mode corresponding to the user input and the intake air pressure in comparison to the predetermined threshold. An engine control apparatus includes a throttle valve, an accelerator opening detector, a throttle opening controller, and an intake air density detector. The throttle valve is configured to regulate an intake air volume of an engine. The accelerator opening detector is configured to detect an accelerator opening that is an operation amount of an accelerator operation member with which a driver operates an accelerator. The throttle opening controller is configured to increase a throttle opening of the throttle valve in accordance with an increase in the accelerator opening. The intake air density detector is configured to detect information about an intake air density of the engine. In a low intake air density state where the intake air density is a predetermined value or lower, the throttle opening controller decreases a sensitivity of the throttle opening relative to the accelerator opening in a partial range of a range where the accelerator opening is variable.

An engine controller is provided. A second calculation process calculates an intake air amount without using an output of an air flow meter. A second determination process determines whether an intake air pulsation in an intake passage is great without using the output of the air flow meter. When the intake air pulsation is determined to be great by at least one of a first determination process and the second determination process, a calculation method switching process selects the calculated value of the intake air amount obtained by the second calculation process as a calculated value of the intake air amount used to determine an operation amount of an actuator.
