Turbo-boost controlled intake system
A turbo-boost controlled intake system is disclosed that provides a driver of a vehicle with greater control over vehicle performance. The turbo-boost controlled intake system includes a control module that is coupled with an aircharger air intake. The control module instructs an electronic control unit of the vehicle to increase manifold pressure to a higher level before releasing the pressure through a waste gate so as to provide a greater power output of the engine. The turbo-boost controlled intake system further includes a wiring harness and a signal adjuster. The wiring harness couples the control module with a turbo inlet pressure sensor, a manifold absolute pressure sensor, and an electronic control unit of the vehicle. The signal adjuster includes a rheostat that enables manual adjustment of the power output of the engine.
Throttle valve for a centrifugal compressor
A throttle valve for a centrifugal compressor includes a body having a central passage and one or more diverter flow paths. The central passage is formed by an inner surface of the body, each diverter flow path has an inlet and an outlet, and the one or more diverter flow paths are configured to induce a swirl within a fluid flow through the central passage while a portion of the fluid flow passes through the one or more diverter flow paths. The throttle valve also includes at least one blade disposed within the central passage. The at least one blade is configured to direct the portion of the fluid flow to the inlets of the one or more diverter flow paths while the at least one blade is in a partially open position.
Device for control of a butterfly valve of an internal combustion engine and internal combustion engine comprising said device
A control method of a butterfly valve of an internal combustion engine, when said internal combustion engine is running, wherein said butterfly valve is controlled by means of a control signal, indicative of an angular position of said valve, the method comprising a step of applying a first limiting filter of a gradient of said control signal, when a ratio between a target pressure downstream of the butterfly valve and a measured pressure upstream of the butterfly valve is greater than a first predetermined threshold.
METHOD FOR ACTIVATING A BOOST PRESSURE CONTROL
A method for activating a boost pressure control for an internal combustion engine, which contains, in a through-flow direction, a compressor, a charge air line, a throttle valve, an intake manifold, at least one combustion chamber and a turbine speed-coupled to the compressor, an aperture of the throttle valve being controllable, a driving of the turbine being controllable by an exhaust gas flow, and the method including: predefining a setpoint intake manifold pressure; calculating a simplified inverse flow characteristic of the throttle valve; calculating a pseudo setpoint aperture of the throttle valve, based on the simplified inverse flow characteristic and the setpoint intake manifold pressure; and controlling the driving of the turbine, based on an exceeding of a maximum aperture of the throttle valve by the pseudo setpoint aperture of the throttle valve.
Compressor surge control
Systems, methods and apparatus are disclosed for providing or maintaining a target surge margin at the compressor during steady state engine operating conditions and to avoid compressor surge during transients by controlling a compressor recirculation valve position to a commanded position. The estimated surge margin can be determined in response to the measured pressure ratio across the compressor, an estimated compressor flow, and a compressor map for the compressor.
Phase diagnosis method and apparatus
A phase diagnosis method and apparatus. When it is verified that the location of an engine is valid, an oil injector performs spraying at a top center compression position; if no acceleration is detected after spraying, it indicates that a fault occurs; in order to detect whether it is a fault of phase deviation of the camshaft by 180 degrees, the oil sprayer performs spraying at the top center exhaust position and detects whether there is an acceleration; if an acceleration is detected, it indicates that the situation of the phase deviation of the camshaft by 180 degrees exists. In this way, the problem in the prior art of being unable to detect phase deviation when the phase of a camshaft is deviated by 180 degrees is solved.
Turbocharger System For A Two-Stroke Engine Having Selectable Boost Modes
A system and method of controlling a turbocharged engine system includes receiving a boost mode selection signal and controlling the turbocharged engine system in response to the boost mode selection signal.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A FUEL SUPPLY PUMP OF A VEHICLE
The invention relates to a method for operating a fuel supply pump of a vehicle, the vehicle comprising a combustion engine system and a gearbox, the method comprising the steps of: determining one or more operational values of at least one operational parameter of the combustion engine system; determining a reduction of a fuel provision rate to the combustion engine system; determining whether a gear step change of the gearbox is at hand, on the basis of the determined one or more operational values of the at least one operational parameter; and in case a gear step change of the gearbox is at hand, controlling operation of the fuel supply pump so as to maintain fuel supply pump speed.
Spark plug configurations for dedicated-EGR engines
One embodiment is a system comprising an internal combustion engine having one or more non-dedicated cylinders and one or more dedicated EGR cylinders configured to provide EGR to the engine via an EGR loop, a first spark plug coupled to each of the one or more non-dedicated cylinders, and a second spark plug coupled to each of the one or more dedicated EGR cylinders, wherein the second spark plug has a physical or dimensional characteristic that is different from the first spark plug. In certain forms each of the non-dedicated cylinders has only one of a first type of spark plug and each of the dedicated EGR cylinders has only one of a second type of spark plug. One or more of the characteristics that may vary between the first and second types of spark plugs include spark gap, electrode diameter, heat range, and ion sensing capability.
Electrified air system for removing cold start aids
An intake system for use with an internal combustion engine having one or more cylinders. The intake system including a compressor assembly having an inlet and an outlet, and where the outlet is configured to be open to and in fluid communication with at least one of the one or more cylinders. The intake system also includes a passageway extending between and in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet and configured to direct a first flow of gasses and a controller in operable communication with the compressor assembly. Where the intake system is operable in a first mode in which the majority of gasses of the first flow of gasses flow through the passageway toward the outlet, and a second mode in which the majority of gasses of the first flow of gasses flow through the passageway toward the inlet.
