20230296064 · 2023-09-21 ·

A fugitive gas detection system is provided. The system includes a cloud service, a plurality of reach-based components, a plurality of wireless gas sensors. The reach-based components comprise backhauls and gateways. The wireless gas sensors are acted as nodes to acquire sensor data in a local mesh network and the nodes are connected to the cloud service through the reach-based components, one node can transmit the sensor data to other sensor nodes of the local mesh network. The system measures flammable gas levels with speed, economy and accuracy.

ENGINE OVERSPEED DEVICE AND METHOD
20230279819 · 2023-09-07 ·

Methods, systems and devices for evaluating incoming air to an engine, industrial controller including engine controls, valves and solenoids, for concentrations of explosive or combustible gases or vapors, and actuating process control including but not limited to shutting down an engine or other industrial process to control an outcome including the prevention of an overspeed condition when pre-set or calculated elevated gas or vapor concentrations are detected. In some embodiments industrial control including engine shutdown may be achieved conventionally via an electronic kill signal, a shutdown of the fuel injector, carburetor or fuel pump, and in emergency conditions by the shutoff of incoming air to an air intake, turbocharger, or other air delivery systems. Decisions based on explosive gas or vapor concentrations and species and the use of networking to allow additional systems to take action before explosive gases or vapors reach said other valve-sensor devices can provide additional safety.

SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATION OF DUAL FUEL ENGINES

Systems, methods and apparatus for controlling operation of dual fuel engines are disclosed that regulate the fuelling amounts provided by a first fuel and a second fuel during operation of the engine. The first fuel can be a liquid fuel and the second fuel can be a gaseous fuel. The fuelling amounts are controlled to improve operational outcomes of the duel fuel engine.

Method and system for water in fuel prognostic monitor

A method for determining the presence of water and diesel exhaust fluid mixed with diesel fuel is disclosed. In one example, output pressure of a fuel pump may be indicative of the presence or absence of water in diesel fuel. The presence or absence of water in fuel may be evaluated in response to filling a fuel tank.

ADAPTIVE ANY-FUEL CAMLESS RECIPROCATING ENGINE

An adaptive, any-fuel reciprocating engine using sensor feedback integration of high-speed optical sensors with real-time control loops to adaptively manage the electronic actuation schemes over a range of engine loads and fuels. The engine uses one or more optical sensors to collect specific types of gas property data via a spectroscopic technique to adaptively control various components within the engine.

Fuel reform apparatus

Fuel reform apparatus includes: internal combustion engine including injector and configured so that compression-ignition combustion is carried out in combustion chamber; reform unit interposed in fuel supply path from fuel tank to injector and including reformer reforming fuel stored in fuel tank by oxidation reaction; and controller including CPU and memory. Controller performs: estimating progress level of oxidation reaction in reformer; and controlling operation of reform unit based on progress level of oxidation reaction estimated.

System, apparatus, and method for controlling an engine system to account for varying fuel quality

A system, apparatus, and method for controlling an engine system can provide fuel reactivity compensation control for an engine of the engine system. Pilot fuel quantity supplied to the engine can be controlled using a nitrous oxide (NOx) error. Likewise, air-to-fuel ratio (AFR) for the engine can be controlled using the NOx error. Each of a pilot fuel offset and an AFR control trim can be generated using the NOx error. The pilot fuel offset and the AFR control trim can be used to control the pilot fuel quantity and the AFR, respectively.

A bi-fuel internal combustion engine system includes a first fuel system, a second fuel system, and a bi-fuel internal combustion engine. The bi-fuel internal combustion engine is configured to selectively consume one of a first fuel received from the first fuel system and a second fuel received from the second fuel system. The bi-fuel internal combustion engine includes a camshaft and a valve assembly. The camshaft has a cam. The valve assembly is positioned adjacent the camshaft and configured to interface with the cam. The valve assembly is selectively repositionable between a first position and a second position. The bi-fuel internal combustion engine has a first dynamic compression ratio when the valve assembly is in the first position and a second dynamic compression ratio when the valve assembly is in the second position. The second dynamic compression ratio is greater than the first dynamic compression ratio.
