Internal combustion engine with a camshaft phaser
An internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft rotatable about a crankshaft axis; a camshaft rotatable by the crankshaft about a camshaft axis; an engine cover defining an engine cover volume within the internal combustion engine; a drive member disposed within the engine cover volume which transfers rotational motion from the crankshaft to the camshaft; a camshaft phaser disposed within the engine cover volume which controllably varies the phase relationship between the crankshaft and the camshaft; an actuator which operates the camshaft phaser; and an actuator mount within the engine cover volume which mounts the actuator structurally independent of the engine cover, thereby allowing removal of the engine cover independently of the actuator.
ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH AN ENGINE COVER OR HOUSING COMPRISING A BOSS
An engine assembly is provided, the engine assembly comprising an engine cover configured to cover a portion of an engine housing. The engine cover comprises: a coupling region provided around a periphery of at least a portion of the engine cover, the coupling region configured to mate with a corresponding coupling region on the engine housing so as to form a seal between the engine cover and the engine housing, and an engine cover boss provided on a planar region of the engine cover and spaced apart from the coupling region, the engine cover boss comprising a contact surface configured to receive an adhesive to couple the engine cover to a corresponding contact surface of the engine housing.
COVER MEMBER OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A cover of an internal combustion engine includes a cover body to be mounted to a crankcase of the internal combustion engine. The cover body includes a through hole, a protruding part, and a plurality of first recessed grooves. The through hole is to support a shaft rotatably. The protruding part is provided above the through hole in an upward direction of the internal combustion engine and protrudes toward an inside of the cover body facing the crankcase. The protruding part includes a first upper part and a first lower part in the upward direction on an inner surface of the protruding part facing the crankcase. The plurality of first recessed grooves extend radially from the through hole so as to connect the upper part and the lower part of the protruding part.
COVER STRUCTURE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A cover structure for an internal combustion engine includes: a plastic cover member attached to a body of the internal combustion engine so as to cover the power transmission and a metallic holding member configured to hold an oil seal pressurized to the outer circumference of the crank shaft. Also, the holding member is positionable by engaging with the body of the internal combustion engine with respect to an axial direction of the crank shaft and a planar direction perpendicular to the axial direction. The cover member and the holding member are fastened together by a fastening bolt while interposing a gasket positioned to surround the crank shaft.
