There is described a shaft shear event detection method. The method comprises obtaining a demodulated waveform of a shaft oscillation wave superimposed on a shaft rotational speed signal, comparing the amplitude to an amplitude threshold, detecting oscillation when the amplitude threshold is exceeded for a plurality of samples, and detecting a shaft shear when oscillation continues for a predetermined time limit.

The core engine can include one or more compressor sections and one or more turbine sections. The gearbox includes an input and an output. The input is coupled to the one or more turbine sections of the core engine and comprises a first rotational speed, the output is coupled to the fan assembly and has a second rotational speed, and a gear ratio of the first rotational speed to the second rotational speed is within a range of 4.1-14.0. The gearbox efficiency rating is 0.10-1.8.

ELECTRIC CONNECTION OF AN ELECTRIC MACHINE IN AN AIRCRAFT TURBOMACHINE

An aircraft turbine engine includes a gas generator having a longitudinal axis (A), a fan which is located at an upstream end of the gas generator and which is configured to rotate about the axis, and an electric machine which has a generally annular shape. The electric machine is mounted coaxially downstream of the fan and has a rotor which is coupled in terms of rotation to the fan, and a stator which is connected to an electronic power circuit by at least one rigid electroconductive bar.

GAS TURBINE ENGINE AND A METHOD OF OPERATING A HEAT EXCHANGER ASSEMBLY FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE

A gas turbine engine comprises a bypass duct and a heat exchanger assembly, the heat exchanger assembly comprising a heat exchanger and a heat exchanger duct having an inlet region, an inflection region and an outlet region. A direction of a centreline of the heat exchanger duct has a tangential component with respect to a principal rotational axis of the gas turbine engine at one or more of the inlet region, the inflection region and the outlet region. The heat exchanger is disposed within the inflection region and configured to transfer heat generated by the gas turbine engine into the flow of air as it passes through the inflection region.

Geared turbomachine fan and compressor rotation

An exemplary gas turbine engine includes a fan section including a fan rotor and at least one fan blade. A fan pressure ratio across the at least one fan blade is less than 1.45, noninclusive of the pressure across any fan exit guide vane system. The engine further includes a low-pressure compressor having a low-pressure compressor rotor that rotates together with the fan rotor at a common speed in operation, and a geared architecture that drives the low-pressure compressor rotor and the fan rotor. The geared architecture has a gear reduction ratio of greater than 2.5. The engine further includes a high-pressure compressor having a pressure ratio greater than 20, a low-pressure turbine having a pressure ratio greater than 5, and a bypass ratio greater than 10.
