Device for Harvesting Stalk-Like Stem Crops

The present invention relates to a device (2) for harvesting stalk-like stem crops, having a number of picking units (4) which are arranged alongside one another on the frame (6) of the device (2) and each have picking plates (12), laterally delimiting a picking gap (14), and picking rotors (16) located therebeneath, conveying units which are assigned to the respective picking units (4), are configured as continuous conveyors (22) that are driven in circulation, are arranged on opposite sides above a picking gap (14) and are configured with drivers (18) fastened to the circulating elements, and a transverse conveying device (8) arranged downstream of the conveying units. In order to find an arrangement for the continuous conveyors which results in a reduced overall width without the intake of laid maize being substantially impaired, it is proposed that the axes of rotation (24) of front deflection wheels (26) of the continuous conveyors (22) be positioned obliquely at an angle (32) transversely to the working width of the device (2) and to the picking plane (28), which is defined by the mutually facing front edges of the picking plates (12) assigned to a picking gap (14), such that the axes of rotation (24), considered to be lengthened, intersect above the picking plates (12) at a distance from the picking plane (28), and the drivers (18) formed on the continuous conveyors (22) are for their part positioned upwardly at an angle (30) to the axis of rotation (24) of the deflection wheels (26).

System and method for converting cutting and gathering system of a corn head

A system for modifying a row unit of a harvesting head, the system including at least one cutting disk adapted for being rotatably mounted to the frame of the row unit between a gathering chain drive sprocket and idler sprocket. The cutting disk includes a sprocket attached thereto for being engaged and driven by the gathering chain in order to rotate the cutting disk. Two counter-rotating cutting disks may be provided, each being driven by a separate gathering chain. A method for modifying a row unit includes loosening the gathering chains, removing existing stalk rolls and housings, installing a cover plate over a gearbox to which the housings were mounted, removing existing trash knives, drilling holes in the row unit frame for mounting the cutting disks, installing the cutting disks, and tightening the gathering chains such that the gathering chains engage sprockets attached to the cutting disks.

ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN AND CONTROLLED DRIVE BOX FOR CORN HEADERS

An electronically driven and controlled transmission box for harvesting machine corn headers, having built-in headers to guide and channel the plant that is harvested. The transmission box has an electric motor that controls a set of axle and central gear through which they distribute the rotation to the axes of the lifting chains of each furrow, as well as to the axles that control the rolls of the same groove.

Narrow Row Head Unit

A method for creating a narrow row head unit which may include a back plate secured to a left gearbox and a right gearbox, and which gearboxes may be positioned adjacent one another. Each gearbox may provide rotational power to a pair of stalk rolls and a drive sprocket for a gathering chain. A right mounting tab may be secured to the back plate and the right gearbox, and a left mounting tab may be secured to the back plate and left gearbox. A right plate and leg may extend outward from the back plate adjacent the right mounting tab and a left plate and leg may extend outward from the back plate adjacent the left mounting tab. A narrow row head unit positioned left-of-center on a header may have the gathering chain positioned substantially over the right plate, and right-of-center substantially over the left plate.

Device for Harvesting Stalk Material

The invention relates to a device (2) for harvesting stalk material, comprising a feed region, a conveyor device (4), a picking device, and a device which is arranged on a plane below the picking device for cutting stalks and has at least one cutter that rotates in a circulating manner on a horizontal or at least approximately horizontal plane. The aim of the invention is to provide a device with which the vegetable structure of the stubble pieces are damaged in addition to being cut such that bacteria and moisture can more easily penetrate the interior of a stalk piece, in particular stubble standing on the field. This is achieved in that at least one impact element (22) is formed on the cutter (18) which rotates in a circulating manner, said impact element rising over the thickness of the cutter blade.

GATHERING CHAINS FOR ROW CROP HARVESTER HEADS
20180235148 · 2018-08-23 · ·

Gathering chains for row crop harvester heads which improve yield by minimizing the loss of kernels that may prematurely break loose and be lost to the ground. The gathering chains include continuous loops with a plurality of lateral extension segments which provide a substantially continuous conveying surface extending substantially across the width of the slot defining the path of travel of the row crop entering the row unit.

Multi-segmented deck plate auto adjustment mechanism for a harvester row unit
10039228 · 2018-08-07 · ·

A row unit for a header of an agricultural harvester is provided. The row unit includes a frame, a first deck plate assembly mounted to the frame, and a second deck plate assembly mounted to the frame. The first and second deck plate assemblies each include a deck plate, a plurality of deck plate segments extending from the deck plate and moveable between a first position and a second position relative to the deck plate, and a plurality of biasing members for biasing each respective deck plate segment. The row unit includes both operator controlled macro adjustment and automatic micro adjustment of a gap between the first deck plate assembly and the second deck plate assembly. The micro adjustment is achieved through biasing members biasing each respective deck plate segment.

Crop attribute sensing with crop loss inhibitors

A harvesting machine has a controlled subsystem that performs harvesting machine functionality, and a control system that controls the controlled subsystem. A header is mounted to the harvesting machine and has row dividers (that divide rows of crop stalks) and gathering chains. A set of crop loss inhibitors is mounted proximate a forward portion of each of the gathering chains, in a direction of travel of the harvesting machine. The crop loss inhibitors also include a sensor that senses a variable, indicative of a crop attribute, as each crop stalk passes through the set of crop loss inhibitors.

Adjustable gathering chain assembly for a header of an agricultural harvester

An adjustable gathering chain assembly for a header of an agricultural harvester includes a drive unit, a driven unit spaced from and movable with respect to the drive unit and an endless gathering chain extending between the drive unit and the driven unit. An adjustment unit including an idler member in engagement with the gathering chain is operable to move the idler member with respect to the drive unit in order to move the driven unit between first and second positions relative to the drive unit whereby the header may effectively harvest both standing crop and downed or lodged crop depending on harvesting conditions.
