The invention relates to an attachment for attaching to a harvesting machine, comprising a number of picking devices (2) distributed adjacent to one another over the working width, said picking devices having at least a first and a second picking rotor (10a, 10b), which can be driven in counterrotation. The drawing edges (14) on the drawing bodies (12) on the first and second picking rotors (10a, 10b) are arranged in relation to one another in such a way that, during rotary movement of the first and second picking rotors (10a, 10b), two adjacent drawing edges (14) of the first picking rotor (10a) hold, in the range of action of said drawing edges into the downward movement path of a plant stalk (8), the plant stalk (8) temporarily against the drawing edges (14) of the second picking rotor (10b) preceding and lagging behind the two adjacent drawing edges (14) of the first picking rotor (10a) and clamp the plant stalk (8), by means of the four contact points (26) of the plant stalk (8), against the drawing edges (14) of the first and second picking rotors (10a, 10b) into an arc shape approximating the enveloping circle (16) of the first picking rotor (10a), and on the second picking rotor (10b) a knife blade (20) is arranged between the preceding and lagging drawing edges (14) of the second picking rotor (10a), which knife blade cuts into the outside of the plant stalk (8) clamped in an arc shape.

Corn stalk roll arrangement

A corn harvester includes a first stalk roll having a plurality of first blades circumferentially spaced apart by a first angle. A second stalk roll has a plurality of second blades circumferentially spaced apart by a second angle. The first and second stalk rolls are rotatable about parallel first and second axes that are separated by a centerline therebetween. In an operational state when a tip of one first blade is aligned with the centerline, a tip of one second blade is angularly offset from the centerline by a third angle. The third angle is less than 45% of the second angle. The one first blade forms a cross section perpendicular to the first axis having an altitude extending from the tip toward the first axis along a first blade altitude. The cross section of the one first blade is asymmetric about the first blade altitude.

Stalk roller assembly for an agricultural system

A stalk roller assembly for an agricultural system includes a stalk roller having a hollow shaft. The hollow shaft has a first end having a first shape, such that the first end engages a guide element. Furthermore, the hollow shaft has a second end having a second shape that engages a drive shaft, such that the first shape is different than the second shape. In addition, the hollow shaft is formed from a single piece of material.

A stalk roll may be configured to be mounted upon a stalk roll drive shaft of a corn harvesting header, wherein the stalk roll drive shaft has a generally square cross-sectional shape. The stalk roll may comprise a main cylinder with a plurality of flutes extending radially from the main cylinder along the length of the main cylinder. A taper may be positioned toward the front end of the main cylinder. The flutes may be configured such this with differing edges to facilitate stalk movement into and through the ear separation zone to the plant separation zone. The flutes may be configured such that a bladeless area proximate to the nose cone on each of two stalk rolls of an opposing pair cooperate to form at stalk engagement gap in at least one moment in time per revolution of the stalk rolls.

Composite stalk roll

A stalk roll for a corn harvester has a first portion including a first material having a first material density, and a second portion including a second material having a second material density. The first density is at least fifty percent greater than the second density, or the first tensile strength is at least fifty percent greater than the second tensile strength. The first portion includes a support portion that engages a drive shaft, a first radial portion extending radially outward from the support portion, a first blade connected to the first radial portion, a second radial portion extending radially outward from the support portion opposite the first radial portion, and a second blade connected to the second radial portion. The first and second blade portions engage a corn stalk. The second portion is positioned between the first radial portion and the second radial portion.

Combine Harvesters For Use In Harvesting Corn, And Related Methods

Combine harvesters are provided for use in harvesting seed corn from corn plants in fields. In connection therewith, a method for producing such seed corn from the corn plants, for use in growing subsequent corn plants, includes measuring a moisture content of corn kernels on ears of the corn plants in the field and removing, by one of the combine harvesters, the ears of corn from the corn plants when the moisture content satisfies a threshold moisture content. The method then includes separating the corn kernels from cobs of the ears of corn onboard the combine harvester and collecting the separated corn kernels for use as seed corn, whereby one or more subsequent corn plants can be grown from the collected corn kernels.

HARVESTER ROW HEAD

Frame assemblies for a corn row head formed from components formed from different materials are disclosed. For example, a frame assembly may include a frame portion having a first beam leg and a second beam leg formed of a first material and a skid plate attached to each of the first beam leg and the second beam leg formed from a second material different than the first material. The first material may be aluminum, and the second material may be steel. In some implementations, a breast plate joining the first beam leg and the second beam leg may be formed from the first material and may be welded to the first beam leg and the second beam leg. In other implementations, the breast plate may be formed from the second material and may be adhesively bonded to the first and second beam legs.
