An engine control unit of a multi-fuel is provided. The engine consumes a mixture of a first combustion fuel and a second combustion fuel. The engine control unit includes hardware circuitry that includes one or more processors configured to calculate an autoignition delay of the mixture of the air and the second combustion fuel based on current operating conditions of the multi-fuel engine. The one or more processors also are configured to calculate an upper limit on an amount of the second combustion fuel that is supplied to the multi-fuel engine based on the autoignition delay that is calculated.

The energy generation system also includes an expander connected between the fuel tank and the power generating device, the expander configured to receive the fuel as a gas and a generator connected to the expander so as to generate electrical energy when fuel passes through the expander.

Trigeneration system using DME

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a trigeneration system using dimethyl ether (DME), wherein the system produces electricity, controls heating and cooling, and supplies carbon dioxide as a fertilizer by driving a DME engine by using, as a raw material, DME which is clean fuel. A trigeneration system using DME according to the present invention may comprise: a DME tank in which DME fuel is stored; a DME engine driven by means of the DME fuel as a raw material; a DME fuel supply unit for supplying the DME fuel stored in the DME tank to the DME engine; a treatment unit connected to an exhaust line for discharging exhaust gas from the DME engine, so as to treat harmful components of the exhaust gas; a power generation unit for producing electricity by means of a driving force of the DME engine; and a cooling and heating unit for supplying or collecting heat by means of the driving force of the DME engine.

Multiple combustion mode engine with ammonia fuel and control method thereof

Disclosed is a multiple combustion mode engine with ammonia fuel including an cylinder head, a cylinder sleeve, a piston, a main combustion chamber, an inlet valve and an exhaust valve, and further including a jet ignition device arranged on the cylinder head and used for providing an ignition source for the main combustion chamber, and an ammonia injector used for providing ammonia/air mixture gas for the main combustion chamber. Also disclosed is a control method of the multiple combustion mode engine with ammonia fuel. The time sequence of ammonia injection of the main combustion chamber and jet flame generation of the pre-chamber is controlled, the mixed state of the fuel/air in the main combustion chamber before ignition can be controlled, and finally different combustion modes, i.e. a premixed combustion mode and a diffusion combustion mode, are formed in the main combustion chamber.

A method of injection of liquid or gaseous ammonia fuel into a reciprocating engine that includes at least two cylinders, each cylinder including a piston that moves reciprocally within that cylinder, each cylinder having a head location at one end located opposite to a compression end of the piston and defining a combustion chamber therebetween, the cylinder including at least one inlet valve through which combustion gases are fed into the combustion chamber and at least one exhaust valve through which spent combustion gases egress the combustion chamber, the piston moving the cylinder in a cycle between top dead center where the piston is located closest to the head location and bottom dead center where the piston is located furthest from the head location, and including at least one fuel injector located at or in the head location, and wherein the method comprises: injecting the ammonia fuel into the combustion chamber of each cylinder as at least one fuel jet with a timing of: after the at least one exhaust valve of the respective cylinder is substantially closed; and before the respective piston moves to at most 35 degrees, preferably at most 45 degrees, prior to top dead centre.

The two-stroke internal combustion engine has an engine crankcase including a sealing mechanism that, at all times and under all circumstances, confine the oil in the lower crankcase. The two-stroke engine uses a gaseous fuel based on dihydrogen and dioxygen, and releases only water vapor charged with unused gaseous fuel. A device for recycling the exhaust gases serves to recover the unused gaseous fuel and to reinject it at the intake opening, or the exhaust opening.

A hydrogen fueled powerplant including an internal combustion engine that drives a motor-generator, and has a two-stage turbocharger, for an aircraft. A control system controls the operation of the motor-generator to maintain the engine at a speed selected based on controlling the engine equivalence ratio. The control system controls an afterburner, an intercooler and an aftercooler to maximize powerplant efficiency. The afterburner also adds power to the turbochargers during high-altitude restarts. The turbochargers also include motor-generators that extract excess power from the exhaust.

An alcohol evaporator is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases. A water evaporator is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases. A reformer purge duct extends from the exhaust system to the inlet of the reformer unit via a purge control valve, adapted for feeding exhaust gases into the reformer unit and via the reformer outlet to the second fuel inlet of the cylinders.
