Methods and devices for reducing NOx emissions produced by diesel engines
The invention includes methods and devices for preventing excessive NOx formation during the combustion event of a compression-ignition engine with any combustible fuel (diesel, Jet-A, JP8, bio fuel, etc).
Injector
A liquid coolant injector for injecting a liquid coolant into a cylinder of a split cycle engine, wherein the liquid coolant has been condensed into a liquid phase via a refrigeration process, the injector comprising, a thermally insulating housing, a liquid coolant inlet, a liquid coolant outlet in fluid communication with the liquid coolant inlet via a liquid coolant flow path wherein the liquid coolant flow path extends through the thermally insulating housing, the thermally insulating housing configured to inhibit vaporisation of the liquid coolant within the liquid coolant flow path, a valve closure member, moveable between a first position in which the valve closure member blocks the liquid coolant flow path and a second position in which the liquid coolant may flow from the liquid coolant inlet to the liquid coolant outlet, and, a driver operable to move the valve closure member between the first and second position in response to a control signal.
Device for injecting an emulsion into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle
A device is provided for injecting an emulsion of water and fuel into an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The device includes a water tank (100) for storing water, a fuel tank (101) for storing fuel, first and second fluid lines (103), an emulsion mixer having a mixing chamber (102), first and second inlets (104), and an outlet (105). The water tank (100) is connected to the first inlet (104) via the first fluid line (103). The fuel tank (101) is connected to the second inlet (104) via the second fluid line (103). The emulsion mixer is configured to output an emulsion that comprises the fuel and the water via the outlet (105). A settable mixer is in the mixing chamber (102) and is configured to set a mixture ratio between the water and the fuel in the emulsion.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING INJECTION IN A COMBUSTION ENGINE
The present invention relates to a method for controlling injection of a gaseous fuel, such as hydrogen or a hydrogen based gas, and a water-based fluid medium into a combustion engine. The method comprises the steps of: in a first operational mode injecting the gaseous fuel and optionally a water based fluid medium into a combustion chamber of the engine at a relatively high pressure; in a second operational mode injecting water as liquid into engine to reduce the temperature and pressure inside the combustion chamber, and injecting the gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber at a relatively low pressure.
AMMONIA COMBUSTION AND METHODS RELATING THERETO
Described are methods for shortening the combustion delay of ammonia fuels and reducing the amount of NO formed during the combustion process. The methods include mixing ammonia with hydrogen peroxide and water to form a fuel mixture and then combusting the fuel mixture. Methods of powering an internal combustion engine with ammonia fuels are also described.

Multivariable dynamic control system of a multi-fuel engine
An engine control unit of a multi-fuel is provided. The engine consumes a mixture of a first combustion fuel and a second combustion fuel. The engine control unit includes hardware circuitry that includes one or more processors configured to calculate an autoignition delay of the mixture of the air and the second combustion fuel based on current operating conditions of the multi-fuel engine. The one or more processors also are configured to calculate an upper limit on an amount of the second combustion fuel that is supplied to the multi-fuel engine based on the autoignition delay that is calculated.
APPARATUS FOR REDUCING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION IN VESSEL COOPERATED WITH EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION AND INTELLIGENT CONTROL BY EXHAUST RECYCLING AND VESSEL INCLUDING THE SAME
The present invention relates to an apparatus for reducing greenhouse gas emission in a vessel cooperated with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and intelligent control by exhaust recycling (iCER), and a vessel including the same, in which EGR and iCER are combined so that NO.sub.x generation is reduced by EGR and CO.sub.2 and SO.sub.x are absorbed and converted into materials that do not affect environments, thereby preventing corrosion of an engine, improving combustion quality, increasing engine efficiency by iCER, and reducing methane slip.
