Systems and methods for relative humidity sensor diagnostics

Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing a humidity sensor in an engine. In one example, a method may include heating intake air entering an intake passage of an engine using heat recirculated from an exhaust system of the engine. A response of the humidity sensor to the heating of the intake air may be used to assess an integrity of the humidity sensor.

A charge air cooler (“CAC”), a bypass line, and a bypass heater are each positioned along the intake air circuit in parallel with each other. A first control valve is structured to controllably divert the intake air around the CAC. A second control valve is structured to controllably divert the intake air around at least one of the bypass line and the bypass heater. A controller operatively coupled to each of the engine, and the first and second control valves is structured to control each of the first and second control valves to cause the intake air to flow along a determined desired flow path based on each of measured ambient temperature and measured engine load.

A hydraulic system for a rear gate of a baler implement includes a fluid circuit having a first portion connected to and disposed in fluid communication with a first fluid port of a hydraulic cylinder. A flow bypass assembly is disposed in the first portion of the fluid circuit. The flow bypass assembly includes a flow rate control valve selectively moveable between a first position allowing fluid communication therethrough at a first flow rate, and a second position blocking fluid communication therethrough. The flow bypass assembly further includes a bypass passageway for circulating the fluid when the flow rate control valve is closed. A flow restriction is disposed within the bypass passageway to provide a second flow rate that is less than the first flow rate.

Split Cycle Engine

A split cycle internal combustion engine includes a combustion cylinder accommodating a combustion piston and a compression cylinder accommodating a compression piston. The engine also includes a controller arranged to receive an indication of a parameter associated with the combustion cylinder and/or a fluid associated therewith and to control an exhaust valve of the combustion cylinder in dependence on the indicated parameter to cause the exhaust valve to close during the return stroke of the combustion piston, before the combustion piston has reached its top dead centre position (TDC), when the indicated parameter is less than a target value for the parameter; and close on completion of the return stroke of the combustion piston, as the combustion piston reaches its top dead centre position (TDC), when the indicated parameter is equal to or greater than the target value for the parameter.

Intake-air temperature controlling device for engine

An intake-air temperature controlling device for an engine is provided, which includes an engine body, an intake passage, an air intake part, an intake air temperature adjuster configured to adjust air temperature taken in through the air intake part to the passage, and a controller. An operating range in which the CI combustion is performed has a lean operating range in which A/F of mixture gas formed inside the cylinder, or G/F that is a relationship between the total weight G of gas inside the cylinder and a weight F of fuel fed to the cylinder is relatively low, and a rich operating range in which the A/F or G/F is relatively high. When the engine is in the lean operating range, the controller outputs a control signal to the intake air temperature adjuster so that the air temperature is increased, as compared in the rich operating range.

Engine intake apparatus and method

Intake apparatus for an engine that includes an injector for injecting fuel into a flowstream of intake gas through the apparatus and a heater for heating intake gas passing through the apparatus. The apparatus being operable to inject fuel into the flowstream of intake gas by means of the injector such that when intake gas flows through the apparatus at a first flow rate injected fuel impinges on the heater; and when intake gas flows through the apparatus at a second flow rate greater than the first a flowpath of injected fuel is deflected by intake gas such that substantially no fuel impinges on the heater.

COLD START OPERATION DEVICE FOR DIESEL ENGINE IN PLATEAU REGION AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

The present invention discloses a cold start operation device and control method for a diesel engine in a plateau region under a low ambient temperature, allowing a starter to drive a piston to compress the low-temperature air, by using the heated air as the fresh inlet air to introduce it into the cylinder, so that the in-cylinder temperature at the compressing TDC is increased to obtain the ignition temperature, and finally achieving the cold start of diesel engines in plateau regions. The present invention avoids complicated preheating devices, and has simple structure and reliable performance, can achieve effective cold start in different low ambient temperature environments.

A method for performing a regeneration cycle for regenerating a diesel particulate filter of a transport refrigeration system. The method includes increasing an air intake throttling level of an engine intake air flow by reducing an air control valve area. The method also includes supplementing the temperature increase of the air intake throttling by energizing an engine preheater.
