Air cleaner assemblies, components, features and methods of assembly and use are described. Example air cleaner assemblies are depicted and described in which a main filter cartridge sealing surface is recessed from an open end of a housing body. An access cover of the housing is configured with a portion extending inwardly to engage a main filter cartridge portion and bias it against the main filter cartridge sealing surface. In selected assemblies, the portion of the access cover extending inwardly toward the main filter cartridge, is a precleaner having flow separator tubes therein.

An axially flexible skirt (106) is circumferentially arranged at the first end (102) of the air filter unit (100) and extending radially outside the outer filter radius (Ro), for wiping an inner surface (202) of the filter housing (200) when the air filter unit (100) is axially removed from the filter housing (200). The invention further relates to an air filter arrangement comprising a replaceable air filter unit and a filter housing.

Round Filter Element, in Particular for Gas Filtration

A round filter element has a filter medium body with a wall to be flowed through by a fluid to be purified in a radial direction relative to a longitudinal axis of the filter medium body. A circumferentially extending seal carrier is arranged at or adjacent to an end face of the filter medium body. A sealing element is supported at the seal carrier adjacent to a radial outer side of the filter medium body. A positioning element extends into the filter medium body and engages with a correlated housing-associated counter positioning element of a filter housing when the round filter element is installed in the filter housing. The seal carrier separates flow-tightly a raw side of the round filter element from a clean side of the round filter element when the round filter element is installed in the filter housing.

AIR FILTER HOUSING WITH CLOSING ARRANGEMENT, AIR FILTER, AND VEHICLE

The invention relates to an air filter housing for use in an air cleaning arrangement for cleaning air to be provided to an air inlet of an internal combustion engine. The air filter housing comprises: a filter housing inlet for receiving air; and a filter housing outlet for providing filtered air to the air inlet of the internal combustion engine when an air filter is arranged inside the air filter housing between the filter housing inlet and the filter housing outlet. The air filter housing further comprises a closing arrangement controllable to be in each of a first state in which the filter housing outlet is closed by the closing arrangement, and a second state in which the filter housing outlet is open. The closing arrangement may comprise an iris shutter.

An apparatus and a method are provided for an air filter configured to be mounted onto air inlets of turbochargers and superchargers. The air filter comprises a proximal base including an inlet receiver configured to receive an air inlet, a clamp to secure the air inlet within the inlet receiver, and a first opening aligned with a screw mechanism of the clamp. A filter medium fastened to the proximal base is configured to remove particulate matter and other contaminates from an incoming air stream. A distal end cap fastened to the filter medium comprises a second opening aligned with the first opening. A conduit within an interior cavity of the air filter is disposed between the first opening and the second opening, facilitating tightening and loosening the clamp by extending an appropriate tool through the interior cavity so as to engage the screw mechanism of the clamp.

The system also comprises a filter support mounted to the filter housing with each one of the air inlet and the air outlet being located on a respective side of the filter support; and a filter cleaning assembly mounted to the filter housing and including an actuation system; and a diaphragm assembly at least partially covering the filter cleaning opening. The diaphragm assembly vibrates upon actuation of the actuation system so as to displace air in the collection chamber to remove particulate matter from a filter engaged with the filter support. The present disclosure also concerns a combustion engine comprising an air filtration system and a method for cleaning an air filtration system.

An internal passage of the housing is opened by suction pressure of the engine in the mounting part to suction external air. A projection formed on the housing of the variable valve is inserted into a projection seat formed in the mounting part, so that the variable valve is secured to the mounting part.

A hydrocarbon absorbing air filter box is provided for absorbing evaporative hydrocarbon emissions from an air intake duct of an internal combustion engine. A combined mass airflow sensor and hydrocarbon trap comprising the hydrocarbon absorbing air filter box includes a duct supporting a hydrocarbon absorbing sheet within an interior of a housing. The duct communicates an airstream from an air filter to the air intake duct during operation of the internal combustion engine. An opening in the housing receives a mass airflow sensor into the duct, such that the mass airflow sensor is disposed within the airstream. Guide vanes extending across the duct reduce air turbulence within the airstream passing by the mass airflow sensor. Ports disposed along the duct allow the evaporative hydrocarbon emissions to be drawn into the interior and arrested by the hydrocarbon absorbing sheet when the internal combustion engine is not operating.

A filter cartridge for a filter for filtration of a fluid has a prismatic basic shape with a base face and a top face arranged parallel to each other and each having a polygonal basic shape. The prismatic basic shape is provided with a first lateral face and a second lateral face neighboring the first lateral face, wherein the first lateral face is an inflow surface and is substantially positioned perpendicular to the neighboring second lateral face. The prismatic basic shape has a third lateral face that is an outflow surface and is positioned at an angle relative to the first lateral face, wherein the angle is greater than 10° and smaller than 80°. A filter with such a filter cartridge is disclosed.

Interface Air Filter and Assembly

An air filter retention interface for use with an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The interface is substantially secured in an opening of a wall and the interface attaches to an air filter at the front end of the interface and an air intake tube on the back end of the interface. The interface has a filter sleeve and a filter base. During operation of the engine the filter sleeve is disposed through the opening in the wall such that the wall is between beads disposed on the external surface of the filter sleeve and the filter base thereby substantially securing the interface in place and the front end of the filter base is attached to the filter and the back end of the filter base is attached to the air intake tube and air passes through the filter then through the filter base and filter sleeve and then into the air intake tube and toward the engine.
