Filter element, filter housing of an air filter and air filter
A filter element of an air filter, including: a filter medium for filtering air, partially surrounding an element interior of the filter element with respect to an element axis; wherein the filter element replaceably arranged within an openable filter housing having at least one inlet for air to be purified and at least one outlet for purified air so that said filter element separates said inlet from said outlet; wherein the filter element has at least one element-side support element on an outer side facing away from the element interior on at least one end face which is axial with respect to the element axis; wherein the support element includes at least one element supporting portion, which, at least in the installed state of the filter element in the filter housing, has a surface contour deviating from a flat surface on its end face facing away from the element interior.

Air filter system and air filter element for an air filter system
A filter system for intake air of an internal combustion engine has a housing with a cover. A filter element is arranged in the housing. An inlet feeds a medium to be filtered into the housing and an outlet discharges the medium from the housing. The filter element has a filter body with first end face and opposite second end face. The filter element has an open first end plate at the first end face and a second end plate at the second end face. A support tube is arranged concentrically about a longitudinal axis in the housing and attached with a first end to the housing. The support tube is arranged in the interior of the filter element and radially supports the filter body. The second end plate rests on the second end of the support tube and on an inner cover contour of the cover with anti-rotation action.

Secondary system and method for controlling an engine
Systems and methods for evaluating whether or not degradation of an engine air intake air filter is present based on a pressure drop across the air filter are presented. In one example, a mean and standard deviation of a pressure drop across an air filter are a basis for indicating whether or not the air filter is degraded. Further, the mean and standard deviation are a basis for estimating a useful life cycle of the air filter.

Method for monitoring component life
Methods and systems are provided for reliably prognosing a vehicle component, such as a vehicle battery or an intake air filter. A state of degradation of the component is predicted based on a metric that is derived from a sensed vehicle operating parameter, the parameter selected based on the component being diagnosed, as well as based on past driving history and future driving predictions. The predicted state of degradation is then converted into an estimate of time or distance remaining before the component needs to serviced, and displayed to the vehicle operator.

Filter housing, hollow filter element and filter
A filter housing of a filter for air, water, fuel, oil or urea-water solution of an internal combustion engine, including: an inlet for fluid to be purified; and an outlet for purified fluid; a hollow filter element including a filter medium for filtering fluid, which surrounds an element interior space with respect to a filter axis, is exchangeably arranged so as to separate the inlet from outlet; wherein the filter housing has at least two housing parts, which can be partly be separated from one another in order to open up an installation opening of the filter housing for the hollow filter element; wherein at least one of the housing parts has connecting tab(s) and at least one other of the housing parts has a tab receptacle(s) adapted to a connecting tab(s) for the insertion of the at least one connecting tab for connecting the housing parts.
