Method for detecting air filter degradation
Methods and systems are provided for determining a status of an air filter in an intake of an engine in a hybrid vehicle. One example method includes, during an engine-off condition, utilizing a pump in an evaporative leak check module of the hybrid vehicle to produce a pressure in an intake manifold of the engine, and indicating degradation of the air filter based on a comparison of barometric pressure and the pressure produced in the intake manifold. In this way, degradation of the air filter may be determined without engine operation.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING AND REPORTING A REMAINING USEFUL LIFE OF AN AIR FILTER
Methods and systems are provided for monitoring an air filter. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving data indicating a vehicle condition; selectively computing a use life of the air filter based on pressure data and the received data; and selectively generating at least one of a notification signal and a notification message based on the use life.
Automotive Snorkel Incorporating an Air Filtration System
An automotive snorkel is for a vehicle having an engine bay in which an engine incorporating an air intake system is located. The automotive snorkel includes a hollow housing having an upper opening and at least one lower outlet, a mounting box adapted to be received in the upper opening, and a plurality of removable filters. The mounting box includes a plurality of filter mounts and a filtration outlet to an external environment. Each filter is removable and adapted to be securely retained by a filter mount. Air only enters the snorkel by way of the upper opening where it is directed towards the filters that filter the particles entrained therein using centrifugal force. The separated particles thereafter are directed to the external environment by way of the filtration outlet. The filtered air is directed through the hollow housing to the lower outlets for subsequent delivery to the engine.
Filter system with sensor socket
A filter system has a housing with a housing wall and at least one lid. An inlet socket is arranged at the housing and feeds a fluid to be filtered into the housing. An outlet socket is arranged at the housing and discharges the fluid that has been filtered from the housing. A sensor socket is arranged at an end section of the housing. The sensor socket is arranged angularly relative to a longitudinal axis of the housing at the outlet socket.

POSITIONING AN ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER IN AN ARRANGEMENT FOR ITS REGENERATION
A filter arrangement includes an activated carbon filter, a fuel tank, an engine, at least one of an air filter or a dust filter, and at least one valve. The at least one valve is configured to allow fresh air to flow through the activated carbon filter in order to regenerate the carbon filter. The activated carbon filter is at least one of associated with the intake tract of the engine, integrated into the intake tract of the engine; or a component of a modular unit with the intake tract of the engine.

Filter system having a support tube
A filter system has a housing with a housing wall and at least one cover. An inlet port is arranged on the housing and supplies a fluid to be filtered to the housing. An outlet port is arranged on the housing and discharges the fluid that has been filtered from the housing. A support tube is arranged in an interior of the housing and accommodates a filter element. The support tube extends along a housing axis of the housing and has a receiving side, wherein the support tube is connected to the housing by a first detent connection provided on the receiving side.
