Mixing valve of an internal combustion engine
09765732 · 2017-09-19 · ·

A mixing valve of an exhaust-gas recirculation device of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes an intake flap and an exhaust-gas flap coupled rigidly to one another via a coupling rod. During driving of the exhaust-gas flap, the intake flap is first pivoted in the opposite direction via the coupling rod. The exhaust-gas flap and intake flap are pivoted in the same direction only above a provided pivoting angle.

Methods and system for controlling compressor surge

Systems and methods for operating a compressor and a compressor recirculation valve of a turbocharged engine to avoid the possibility of compressor surge are presented. The systems and methods position the compressor recirculation valve responsive to a compressor surge line that is based on two other compressor surge lines that may be a function of compressor pressure ratio and compressor flow.

EXHAUST-GAS-TURBOCHARGED INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH PARTIAL DEACTIVATION

Embodiments for operating an engine having parallel turbochargers and two fluidically coupleable, separated intake manifolds is provided. In one example, a method includes responsive to a first condition, operating a first cylinder group of an engine, deactivating a second cylinder group of the engine, and blocking fluidic communication between a first intake manifold coupled to the first cylinder group and a second intake manifold coupled to the second cylinder group, and responsive to a second condition, activating the second cylinder group and establishing fluidic communication between the first and second intake manifolds.

In cases where an EGR device is provided in which an EGR gas is recirculated to an upstream side of a compressor, the generation of condensed water is suppressed in an intake passage at the downstream side of the compressor. In the case where the temperature of a wall surface of the intake passage estimated or detected by a temperature detector is equal to or less than a predetermined temperature, a rotational speed of a turbine is made higher than in the case where the estimated or detected temperature of the wall surface of the intake passage is higher than the predetermined temperature, and torque of an internal combustion engine is adjusted such that an amount of change in an output of the internal combustion engine at the time of the rotational speed of the turbine being thus made higher falls within a predetermined range.

ENGINE

An engine includes a combustion chamber, a cylinder head, an intake valve, a partition wall plate, and a tumble valve. The cylinder head includes an intake port that communicates with the combustion chamber. The intake valve includes a head configured to open and close an open end of the intake port. The partition wall plate partitions the intake port into first and second passages. The tumble valve is configured to open and close either one of the first passage and the second passage. A cross sectional shape of the partition wall plate is defined on a basis of a shape of a gap that is surrounded by a contour of the head and a contour of the open end, as viewed in a reference direction. The reference direction is a direction from a reference point in the intake port to a gap between the open end and the head.

Air intake set

An air intake set for a motor vehicle engine, including an air intake hose, a flow meter and a device for directing an air flow positioned upstream of the flow meter with respect to the direction of circulation of the air flow in the hose. The device for directing an air flow is adapted to guide the air flow towards the flow meter and has a variable permeability so as to set the velocity of the air flow.

CONTROL APPARATUS FOR COMPRESSION-IGNITION TYPE ENGINE

An engine control apparatus includes an ignition control section and an injection control section. When the partial compression ignition combustion is carried out, the ignition control section causes an ignition plug to carry out: main ignition in which a spark is generated in a late period of a compression stroke or an initial period of a expansion stroke to initiate the SI combustion; and preceding ignition in which the spark is generated at earlier timing than the main ignition. Also, when the partial compression ignition combustion is carried out, the injection control section causes the injector to inject fuel at such timing that the fuel exists in a cylinder at an earlier time point than the preceding ignition. The energy of the preceding ignition is set to be higher when the in-cylinder pressure specified by the in-cylinder pressure specification section is high than when the in-cylinder pressure is low.

Detecting a state of an air diverter valve of an air induction system for a vehicle

Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for determining a state of an air diverter valve of an air induction system of a vehicle. The determined state of the air diverter valve may be based on an intercooler-based estimated ambient air temperature and a comparison between an ambient air temperature sensor value and a pre-compressor sensor value.
