Disclosed is a transport refrigeration unit (TRU) having: an engine configured to power a refrigeration system of the TRU, the engine including an air intake, the engine within an engine compartment of the TRU; an air management valve (AMV) fluidly coupled to the air intake; a first duct fluidly coupled to the AMV and including a first inlet within the engine compartment; and a second duct fluidly coupled to the AMV and including a second inlet that is exterior to the engine compartment and is configured to receive atmospheric air; wherein: the AMV is configured to modulate air into the engine from the first duct and the second duct, when a temperature of air within the AMV is above the first threshold and the temperature of air within the second duct is below the first threshold, to lower the temperature of air entering the engine to below the first threshold.
Engine compartment heating assembly
An engine assembly including an internal combustion engine configured to be received in an engine compartment and a heat exchanger having a first conduit fluidly connected to a fluid circuitry of the engine and a second conduit fluidly connecting an interior of the engine compartment to its environment. The first conduit is in heat exchange relationship with the second conduit. The assembly further includes a forced air system operable in use to provide an air flow from the environment to the outlet via the second conduit of the heat exchanger and the engine compartment. The assembly further includes a selector valve configurable to selectively fluidly connect an air intake of the internal combustion engine with the interior of the engine compartment in a first valve position and with the environment in a second valve position. A method for supplying air to an internal combustion engine is also discussed.
Air intake heater system for a combustion engine, method for heating intake air and a vehicle comprising such a system
An air intake heater system for a combustion engine, comprising; a turbocharger, a high pressure EGR conduit, a low pressure EGR conduit, and an air intake conduit, where the system comprises a heat exchanger arranged upstream of the turbocharger, where the heat exchanger comprises a first flow channel connecting an air inlet to an inlet of the turbocharger and a second flow channel, where the second flow channel is part of the high pressure EGR conduit. The advantage of the invention is that intake air and low pressure EGR gas can be heated by the high pressure EGR gas, and that high pressure EGR gas can be cooled by intake air.
GAS-LIQUID SEPARATOR
A gas-liquid separator includes a cylindrical inlet pipe and a fluid inflow pipe. The inlet pipe includes a fluid inlet which is formed in a fluid entering side and radially opens. An axis line of the inlet pipe horizontally extends. The fluid inflow pipe includes at an end a connection opening connected to the fluid inlet. An axis line of the fluid inflow pipe horizontally extends. The fluid inflow pipe introduces the gas-liquid two-phase fluid through the fluid inlet from a side of the inlet pipe. In a connecting portion, a position of an axis line extending through a center of a connection opening in communication with the fluid inlet is vertically offset with respect to a position of the axis line of the inlet pipe.
Silencing device
A silencing device includes an intake air pipe, a silencer, and a heater. The intake air pipe communicates with a supercharging device configured to supercharge intake air to be sucked into an engine. The intake air pipe is configured to introduce the intake air into the supercharging device. The silencer is disposed in the intake air pipe, and configured to silence air flow noise. The heater is disposed in the intake air pipe, and configured to heat the intake air introduced through the intake air pipe.
COOLING AIR FEEDING APPARATUS FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
A cooling air feeding apparatus is for a motor vehicle, which has a motor vehicle body and a drive train, the drive train being assigned a cooler, and at least the cooler being arranged in a rear region of the motor vehicle body. The cooling air feeding apparatus has a throughflow opening, which is in the rear region and which is configured to receive air from surroundings of the motor vehicle and to feed the received air to the cooler. In order to regulate a driving state of the motor vehicle, the throughflow opening is configured with a variable throughflow cross section with the aid of a closing element, which is assigned to the cooling air feeding apparatus. The throughflow opening is configured to be controllably closed individually completely or partially and to be opened completely.
Power systems and enclosures having improved cooling air flow
Power systems and enclosures having improved cooling air flow are disclosed. An example power system includes an enclosure; an air inlet location at a first location on an exterior of the enclosure to permit intake of air from the exterior of the enclosure to an interior of the enclosure; an air exhaust location at a second location on the exterior of the enclosure to exhaust the air taken in through the air inlet location; and an air routing path defined by the enclosure to direct the air from the air inlet location to the air exhaust location, in order: through one or more first compartments in the enclosure, the one or more first compartments containing at least one of a compressor, a generator, or power conversion circuitry; and through one or more second compartments, the one or more second compartments comprising an engine and a muffler.
