FLAP DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A flap device for an internal combustion engine which includes a flow housing with a housing wall which delimits a flow-through duct. The flap device includes a shaft mounted in the flow housing, a flap body rotatably mounted on the shaft, an actuator for the shaft, and a pressure measurement point. The pressure measurement point is arranged in a duct section of the flow housing so that the flap body traverses the pressure measurement point when rotating, and in a region of the flow housing remote from the shaft when viewed in a circumferential direction of the housing wall. A flap surface of the flap body is directed towards the pressure measurement point and is curved so that, in each rotary position, a tangent arranged at the position of the curved flap surface having a shortest distance to an opposite wall surface of the flow housing is parallel thereto.
VAPOR PURGE SYSTEM HAVING VENTURI HOSE-OFF DETECTION CAPABILITY
An vapor purge system for a turbocharged internal combustion engine having an evaporative emissions turbo purge valve incorporating a venturi vacuum generator and a hose-off detection function. The turbo purge valve includes a pressure sensor, and a low restriction check valve which is integrated into the outlet port of the venturi vacuum generator. The pressure sensor is capable of detecting the small pressure drop (i.e., vacuum) generated at the air inlet tube or air box during naturally aspirated conditions. The check valve closes the venturi vacuum generator on the purge side during naturally aspirated conditions, allowing fluid communication to the air intake system through one port only, and the detection of the vacuum during these conditions. If a hose becomes detached, either at the outlet port of the venturi vacuum generator or at the air box, the small vacuum is not detected, and the ECU then diagnoses the hose-off condition.
Abnormality detection device for humidity sensor
An abnormality detection device for a humidity sensor has a humidity sensor disposed in an intake passage, a temperature sensor to detect an intake air temperature, and a controller. The controller is configured to detect a first sensor signal at a time of the intake air temperature being a first intake air temperature, and a second sensor signal at a time of the intake air temperature changing from the first intake air temperature and reaching a second intake air temperature, calculate values from which an influence of a temperature difference between the first and second intake air temperatures is excluded, from the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal, as respective humidity index values, and detect presence or absence of abnormality of the humidity sensor according to whether or not a deviation degree of these humidity index values is larger than a predetermined degree.
Control apparatus for internal combustion engine
By calculating a throttle opening learning value based on an actual effective opening area calculated based on the actual flow rate of intake air and an actual throttle opening with respect to variations caused by type differences of throttle valves and by calculating a throttle opening learning completion range indicating the region for which throttle opening learning completion has been determined based on the state of deviation between an effective opening area corrected by throttle opening learning and the actual effective opening area, control that applies the throttle opening learning value or fail-safe of an air flow sensor is performed in a contiguous throttle opening learning completion range.
Apparatus for improving engine performance
An apparatus for in-line re-calibration of engine load signal, the apparatus having a housing and a first connector disposed on the housing, adapted to plug into an electrical connection socket of an automotive air intake sensor. A second connector is disposed on the housing, adapted to mimic the electrical connection socket of the automotive air intake sensor. An electronic circuit is disposed in the housing, the electronic circuit adapted to re-calibrate signals from the automotive air intake sensor and deliver the re-calibrated signals the to the second connector. The housing is adapted to plug in-line directly into the electrical connection socket of the automotive air intake sensor, whereby the corresponding electrical wiring connector to an engine control unit plugs directly into the second connector of the housing, completing the inline connection.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTAKE AIR FILTER DIAGNOSTIC
Systems and methods for detecting a clogged intake air filter in a turbocharged engine system are provided. In one example a method for an engine coupled to an air filter and to a fuel tank includes indicating air filter clogging responsive to a measured fuel tank pressure during boosted engine operation. In this way, clogging of the air filter may be determined using existing engine system components.
PHYSICAL QUANTITY MEASURING DEVICE, ABNORMALITY DETECTION DEVICE, AND ABNORMALITY DETECTION METHOD
A physical quantity measuring device is configured to measure a physical quantity of a fluid. The physical quantity measuring device includes: at least two humidity detection parts configured to output a humidity signal corresponding to a humidity of the fluid; and an abnormality determination part configured to determine that an abnormality has occurred in the humidity detection parts in response to that a difference between the humidity signals obtained from the two humidity detection parts exceeds an abnormality determination threshold.
AIR INTAKE APPARATUS
An air intake apparatus includes an air intake apparatus body including an intake passage and a detection bore, a sensor holding portion holding a sensor, a pipe member constituted by an elastic member and including a first end and a second end, the first end being connected to the detection bore and the second end being connected to the sensor holding portion, the sensor holding portion including a fitting portion which includes an inner peripheral portion contactable with an outer peripheral portion of the second end, the sensor and the pipe member being fixed to the sensor holding portion by a contact of the outer peripheral portion of the second end with the inner peripheral portion of the fitting portion in a state where an insertion portion of the sensor is inserted to be positioned within the second end of the pipe member to widen the second end.
AN INFERENTIAL FLOW SENSOR
A system and an approach for determining various flows in an internal combustion engine, such as an amount of recirculation exhaust gas flow through a controlled valve and a fresh air mass flow to an intake of an engine. Also, among the sensors accommodated in the system, is an inexpensive but slow-responding lambda sensor in the exhaust stream.
METHOD TO ESTIMATE COMPRESSOR INLET PRESSURE FOR A TURBOCHARGER
A method of estimating a compressor inlet pressure for a turbocharger includes: measuring an ambient temperature of air flowing into the compressor; measuring a flow rate of the air into the compressor; measuring a boost pressure of the air from the compressor to an engine; determining a speed of a turbine of the turbocharger; defining a pressure ratio as the ratio of the boost pressure to the compressor inlet pressure; defining a function as the function of the compressor flow rate, the ambient temperature, the compressor inlet pressure and the turbine speed; and equating the pressure ratio and the function and recursively solving for the compressor inlet pressure.
