20220234397 · 2022-07-28 ·

A method for detecting a leak in a pressure vessel of a system including a plurality of pressure vessels in fluid communication with a common header comprises: reducing a fluid pressure in the common header to a first predetermined value below an operating pressure of the plurality of pressure vessels; gradually adding fluid to the common header at a first flow rate to increase the fluid pressure in the common header from the first predetermined value; monitoring, after gradually adding the fluid to the common header, the fluid pressure in the common header; and determining, based on the fluid pressure in the common header after gradually adding the fluid to the common header, a leak in at least one pressure vessel of the plurality of pressure vessels.

Shutter system for a motor vehicle

A shutter system is provided for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine that receives forced intake air and is cooled by an engine coolant. The vehicle includes a charge air cooler system having an intercooler for cooling the intake air and an engine cooling system. The shutter system includes a shutter positioned downstream of the intercooler and an actuator for moving the shutter between first and second positions. The shutter system further includes a sensor for generating a signal associated with a temperature of the intake air and a processor for comparing the temperature to a threshold. The actuator moves the shutter to the first position in response to receiving the first signal when the temperature is below the threshold. The actuator moves the shutter to the second position in response to receiving the second signal when the temperature is above the threshold.

Disclosed is a method for detecting the clogging of an air filter including the following steps when the cross section for the passage of air in an intake tract is greater than a predetermined passage cross section: measuring a pressure in the intake tract at the end of a phase of admitting air into a cylinder; measuring a pressure in the intake tract at the end of an exhaust phase in a cylinder; and determining that the air filter is clogged by comparison between at least one pressure measured during a pressure measurement at the end of the phase of admitting air into a cylinder and, on the other hand, a pressure measured during a pressure measurement at the end of the exhaust phase, the filter being estimated to be clogged when the comparison yields a value higher than a predetermined value.

Inferential flow sensor

A system and an approach for determining various flows in an internal combustion engine, such as an amount of recirculation exhaust gas flow through a controlled valve and a fresh air mass flow to an intake of an engine. Also, among the sensors accommodated in the system, is an inexpensive but slow-responding lambda sensor in the exhaust stream.

METHOD OF DETERMINING AN OPERATIONAL STATUS OF AN EGR VALVE

A method of determining an operational status of an exhaust gas recirculation valve of an internal combustion engine arrangement, the EGR valve being configured to control a flow of combusted exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold to an inlet manifold of the ICE arrangement. The method comprising controlling the EGR valve to transition from a closed position; obtaining a signal indicative of a variation of temperature level of the gas present in the inlet manifold at a duration between a first point in time and a second point in time when the EGR valve assumes the open position; determining, based on the signal indicative of the variation of the temperature level, a velocity value indicative of a maximum increase in change of temperature level during the time period between the first point in time and the second point in time; comparing the velocity value with a predetermined threshold; and determining that the EGR valve is operational when the velocity value is higher than the predetermined threshold.

Hybrid vehicle

A hybrid vehicle includes an engine, an exhaust gas recirculation device, a traveling motor, and a control device. The exhaust gas recirculation device includes a communication pipe that allows an exhaust pipe and an intake pipe of the engine to communicate with each other and a valve that is provided in the communication pipe. The control device is configured to perform foreign matter removal control for opening and closing the valve when foreign matter caught in the valve is detected and the hybrid vehicle stops.

Detecting a state of an air diverter valve of an air induction system for a vehicle

Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for determining a state of an air diverter valve of an air induction system of a vehicle. The determined state of the air diverter valve may be based on an intercooler-based estimated ambient air temperature and a comparison between an ambient air temperature sensor value and a pre-compressor sensor value.

FILTER RESTRICTION INDICATOR

Embodiments herein relate to filter restriction indicator (100) for a filtration system. In an embodiment, a filter restriction indicator (100) can have an electronics control cartridge (800) including an internal spacer frame (304), a first circuit board (346), a second circuit board (302) disposed over the first circuit board (346), and a pressure sensor (336) in electrical communication with the first circuit board (346). A filter fluid tube (318) defines a filter fluid channel (348) in fluid communication with the pressure sensor (336). The internal spacer frame (304) can secure the first circuit board (346) at a fixed distance from the second circuit board (302). A lower housing (108) defines an ambient pressure port (310). A cap (102) defines an interior volume (332) into which the electronics control cartridge fits (800). The cap (102) can define a shielding panel (112) configured to fit over an exterior portion of the ambient pressure port (336) when the cap (102) is engaged with the lower housing (108). Other embodiments are also included herein.
