Method of calculating air volume in active purge system
A method of determining an air volume in an active purge system may include checking whether an engine operates in an idle state; determining an air volume reaching a combustion chamber of the engine in response to a signal received from a sensor provided in an intake pipe; checking whether an evaporation gas collected in a canister is introduced into the intake pipe; estimating an amount of the evaporation gas introduced into the intake pipe and primarily correcting the air volume determined according to the estimated amount of the evaporation gas; checking whether an opening holding time of an intake valve in the engine is varied due to an operation of a continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) system electrically connected to the controller; and deriving a correction variable by substituting an operation duty of the CVVD system into a formula, a table, or a map provided in advance, and secondarily correcting the primarily corrected air volume according to the correction variable.
Air velocity apparatus and system
An apparatus and a system is provided that may be utilized to determine air flow through an air filter and/or a plurality of air filters. The present invention utilizes a demonstration apparatus to illustrate the differences in air flow and air restriction between a plurality of different air filters and filtration media. The apparatus and system utilizes a common plenum which subjects the plurality of air filters to the same differential pressure. The air flows through a first side of the air filter and is measured on the second side of the air filter by utilizing a wind meter or similar device to gauge the amount of air flow velocity of the second side of the filter. Additionally, the apparatus and system utilizes a display means to illustrate the differing air velocity through the second side of the air filter.
Thermal air flow meter
The purpose is to improve the measurement accuracy of a thermal air flow meter. The device has: an auxiliary passage for entraining a portion of a fluid being measured; a sensor chip arranged in the auxiliary passage, for measuring the flow rate of the fluid being measured; an electronic component having an internal resistor, for converting the fluid flow rate detected by the sensor chip to an electrical signal; and a substrate on which the sensor chip and the electronic component are mounted. The substrate is covered by a filler material, on the surface of which the electronic component is mounted.
System and method for diagnosing a variable displacement engine
Systems and methods for determining operation of a cylinder deactivating/reactivating device are disclosed. In one example, a direction of engine rotation is selected to maximize air flow through the engine while the engine is rotated without combusting air and fuel. Operation of one or more cylinder valve deactivating mechanisms is assessed while the engine is rotated without combusting air and fuel.
Engine system
An engine system includes an injector, an EGR device (including an EGR valve having a step motor) to recirculate part of exhaust gas of an engine as EGR gas to the engine, and an electronic control unit (ECU) to control the injector, the EGR valve, and others based on an operating state of the engine. The ECU is configured to diagnose foreign-matter lodging abnormality of the EGR valve and a lodged foreign-matter diameter based on detected intake pressure during engine deceleration. When existence of the abnormality and the foreign-matter diameter are determined, the ECU controls the step motor to hold the EGR valve at a first opening degree smaller than a second opening degree needed to remove a foreign matter before fuel cut to the engine by the injector.
AIR FLOW MEASUREMENT APPARATUS
A physical quantity sensing device is installed to a circuit board and is configured to output a signal, which corresponds to a physical quantity of air flowing through a physical quantity measurement passage. A physical quantity measurement passage inlet, which is communicated with the physical quantity measurement passage, includes a first inner surface and a second inner surface. A second distance, which is measured from the physical quantity sensing device to the second inner surface in a plate thickness direction of the circuit board, is larger than a first distance, which is measured from the circuit board to the first inner surface in the plate thickness direction of the circuit board.
System and method for estimating turbo speed of an engine
The speed of a turbocharger may be estimated using data from sensors that are readily available in most engine management systems. In some cases, a pressure measurement from a MAP sensor may be used, in combination with one or more computational models, to provide an efficient, lower cost estimate of turbo speed that can be used to control operation of the engine and/or the turbocharger.
Motor vehicle pipeline with a mixing element made from a wire structure
The present disclosure relates to a pipeline for supplying a gas to an internal combustion engine, with a pipeline cross section forming a passage for the gas and a gas mass measuring device for measuring a gas mass flow. The pipeline is characterized in particular in that it comprises a mixing element made from a wire structure upstream from the gas mass measuring device and in that the mixing element serves for the thorough mixing of the gas in order to homogenize an inhomogeneous flow profile which is present upstream from the mixing element.
SENSOR SYSTEM
A sensor system for determining the intake air mass of an internal combustion engine. The sensor system includes a grating situated upstream from a plug-in sensor in a main flow direction. The grating is formed annular-shaped around a center axis of a flow tube extending in the direction of the main flow direction. The grating includes grating rings and grating struts extending radially with respect to the center axis and the grating rings. The grating rings and grating struts form passages between them for the intake air flowing in the main flow direction. The grating rings are situated around the center axis and coaxially to one another and are separated from one another by the grating struts.
AIRCHARGER AIR INTAKE SYSTEM AND METHOD
An apparatus and a method are provided for an aircharger air intake system for filtering and conducting an airstream to an air intake of an engine. The aircharger air intake system includes an air filter comprising a filter medium configured to entrap particulates flowing within the airstream. An air box comprising one or more sidewalls and a mount wall is configured to support the air filter within an engine bay. The air box is configured to be mounted, or fastened, onto the engine. An intake tube is coupled with the air filter and configured to conduct the airstream to the air intake of the engine. The intake tube is configured to be coupled with an air temperature sensor or a mass air sensor of the engine. An adapter is configured to couple the intake tube with the air intake.
