Fuel system diaphragm valve
A fuel line check valve system and a fuel system that includes the fuel line diaphragm valve system are described. The fuel line diaphragm valve system may prevent flow into a fuel system that is generated via a vacuum in the fuel system. The fuel line diaphragm valve may also remain in an open state after it is open via a reduced pressure.
VENTURI PUMP SYSTEM FOR A FUEL SENDING UNIT
A fuel system for a vehicle comprising a fuel tank having a fuel tank reservoir. A lift pump is outside of the fuel tank and includes an inlet, and first and second outlets, with the inlet being configured to receive fuel from the fuel tank. The lift pump is configured to output fluid from the first outlet at a first prescribed pressure. A venturi pump is located within the fuel reservoir and defines a venturi pump reservoir. The venturi pump includes a venturi jet including a drive inlet configured to be fluidly connectable to the first outlet of the lift pump to receive fluid therefrom. A suction inlet is configured to be placeable in fluid communication with the fuel tank reservoir and to draw fluid from the fuel tank reservoir into the venturi pump reservoir in response to fluid flowing through the venturi jet at the first prescribed pressure.
Fault-tolerant fuel isolation from engine firebay
Fuel isolation systems, apparatuses and methods are described. In some embodiments, a system comprises a fuel tank, a fuel pump, an engine, a firewall, a fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine, a connector coupled inline with the fuel line on a cold side of the fuel line, a valve coupled to the connector, an air feed line coupled to an air source and to the valve. In the event of an engine fire condition, a control unit outputs signaling to turn off the fuel pump and operate the valve to introduce air from the air source into the fuel line. The introduced air provides a siphon break in the fuel line such that the only fuel that can pass the firewall is the remaining fuel in the fuel line downstream of the connector and the introduced air.
Fuel Supply Device
A fuel supply device includes a fuel supply passage, a fuel pump, a pressure-regulating valve, and a housing. The fuel supply passage is in communication with the fuel injector. The fuel pump pumps the fuel to the fuel supply passage. The pressure-regulating valve regulates the pressure of the fuel in the fuel supply passage. The housing is disposed in the fuel tank. The housing accommodates the fuel pump and the pressure-regulating valve. The fuel supply passage is formed within the housing. The pressure-regulating valve is connected to an end portion of the fuel supply passage formed in the housing. The volume of the end portion of the fuel supply passage in the housing is configured to increase with increasing pressure of the fuel.
REGULATOR
A regulator, e.g., a pressure regulator for supplying a high pressure fuel to an engine, is disclosed. The regulator includes at least a pair of annular bearings composed of a rigid synthetic resin interposed along a length direction of a pressure regulating valve body at a predetermined distance at a position on a valve seat side in an axial direction of a gap formed between the pressure regulating valve body and an inner wall of the passage formed in a body main body.
Fuel tank protector valve and engine systems having same
A dual chamber fuel tank protector valve has a transversely oriented divider defining a plurality of apertures for fluid flow between a first port and a second port. Each chamber has a seal disk therein. The first seal disk is normally biased to an open position by a first biasing member. The second seal disk is normally biased to a closed position by a second biasing member having a preselected biasing force set to a preselected pressure differential that allows movement to its open position before the first seal disk moves to its closed position. When the first seal disk and the second seal disk move to their respective closed positions, the direction of movement is toward one another.
Fuel pump module
A fuel pump module includes a fuel pump, a housing, a filter, a bracket, a lid, a fuel passage, and a pressure regulating valve. The fuel pump supplies a fuel in a fuel tank that defines an opening to an outside of the fuel tank. The housing has a cylindrical shape and supports the fuel pump. The bracket connects the filter to the housing. The lid covers the opening and defines a discharge port through which the fuel is supplied to the outside. The fuel passage connects the fuel pump to the discharge port. The pressure regulating valve has a gravity center inside a space defined by a first virtual cylindrical surface including the housing. A minimum circumscribed circle of both the housing and the filter is smaller than the opening.
Fault-tolerant fuel isolation from engine firebay
Fuel isolation systems, apparatuses and methods are described. In some embodiments, a system comprises a fuel tank, a fuel pump, an engine, a firewall, a fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine, a connector coupled inline with the fuel line on a cold side of the fuel line, a normally closed valve coupled to the connector, an air feed line coupled to an ullage of the fuel tank and to the valve. In the event of an engine fire condition, a control unit outputs signaling to turn off the fuel pump and open the valve to introduce air from the ullage into the fuel line. The introduced air provides a siphon break in the fuel line such that the fuel cannot be siphoned and the only fuel that can pass the firewall is the remaining fuel in the fuel line downstream of the connector and the introduced air.
Fuel pressure regulator
A fuel pressure regulator includes a fuel inlet; a fuel outlet; a seating surface; and a valve member assembly. The valve member assembly includes a poppet and also includes a sealing member which is centered about a valve member assembly axis, is annular in shape, and includes a sealing member surface. The valve member assembly is moveable between 1) a closed position in which the sealing member surface annularly engages the seating surface, thereby preventing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet and 2) an open position in which at least a portion of the sealing member surface is spaced apart from the seating surface, thereby allowing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet. A spring biases the valve member assembly toward the closed position and is centered about a spring axis which is laterally offset relative to the valve member assembly axis.
Method and apparatus for adjustable fuel pressure module
Method and apparatus for adjustable fuel pressure module. In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for regulating fuel pressure comprises a body configured to mate to a fuel filter housing, a spring seat assembly configured to seal an opening in the fuel filter housing according to a force applied by a pressure regulating spring acting on the spring seat assembly, and a pressure regulating spring adjusting assembly mounted to the body, configured to constrain an adjustable length of the pressure regulating spring, wherein the spring is constrained between the spring seat assembly and the pressure regulating spring adjusting assembly. A force exerted upon the spring seat assembly by the pressure regulating spring corresponds to a desirable fuel pressure. The spring seat assembly is configured to unseal the opening in the fuel filter housing responsive to a fuel pressure greater than the desirable fuel pressure.
