Driveshaft Assembly
A driveshaft assembly, for example in an Electronic Unit Injector, Unit Injector or Electronic Unit Pump testing machine, wherein an indexing arrangement, such as complementary external and internal splines, enables a cam to be mounted on a shaft at a number of discreet positions, each providing a different offset of a central axis of the base cylinder section from a central axis of the shaft, each position providing a different maximum lift value of a plunger in contact with the cam, directly or via a rocker arm.
Tappet Assembly for Use in a High-Pressure Fuel System and Method of Manufacturing
A tappet assembly for use in translating force between a camshaft lobe and a fuel pump assembly via reciprocal movement within a tappet cylinder having a guide slot. The tappet assembly comprises a tappet body having inner and outer surface and defining a pair of apertures, and a follower assembly. The follower assembly has a shaft and a first bearing and a second bearing each supported on the shaft for engaging the camshaft lobe. A beam is further supported on the shaft between the first and second bearings and has a platform for engaging the fuel pump assembly. The shaft is disposed in the pair of apertures of the tappet body and the beam is arranged in the tappet body.
PUMP ACTUATOR WITH INCREASED BODY STRENGTH
A pump actuator for use between a cam and a pump is disclosed. The pump actuator comprises a pump actuator body having a structural enhancing feature. The pump actuator body comprises a pad defined between a plunger facing surface and an opposite roller facing surface. The plunger facing surface is recessed into the pump actuator body and offset from a radial end. The pump actuator body further includes a cylindrical wall defined between the radial end and the plunger facing surface. The structural enhancing feature is formed on the pad on the plunger facing surface. The structural enhancing feature increases load carrying capacity of the pump actuator body.
Fuel injection pump
A fuel injection pump includes a cylinder formed with a passage of fuel, a plunger, and a swirl flow generating par. The plunger slides along an inner wall of a sliding hole located in the cylinder and reciprocates between an uppermost point and a lowermost point to pressurize the fuel in a pressurizing chamber placed at an end of the sliding hole at a highest point. The plunger is movable downward to cause the pressurizing chamber to inhale the fuel from an intake passage in a fuel suction stroke. The intake passage is communicated to the pressurizing chamber at a lateral side of a plunger axis that is an axis of the plunger in a sliding direction. The swirl flow generating part guides the fuel to form a swirl flow around the plunger axis in the fuel suction stroke.
VALVE ACTUATION SYSTEM FOR ENGINE AND VALVE LIFTER AND ROCKER ARM FOR SAME
A valve actuation system for an engine includes a rotatable camshaft, an injector actuation linkage, and a valve actuation linkage. The valve actuation linkage includes a valve lifter, a valve pushrod, and a rocker arm. At least one of a rocker arm center plane defined by the valve rocker arm or a lifter roller center plane defined by the valve lifter is spaced an offset distance from a pushrod axis, providing an increased contact width between an injector roller in the injector actuation linkage and one of a plurality of cam lobes of the camshaft. The valve lifter includes a fork defining a center plane spaced an offset distance from a center axis of the valve lifter. A rocker arm includes a screw bore offset relative to a rocker arm center plane.
High-Pressure GDI Pump With Low-Pressure Bypass
A high-pressure fuel supply pump for a fuel system that supplies a high-pressure fuel injection (GDI) apparatus and a low-pressure fuel injection (PFI) apparatus incorporates an inlet check valve to isolate a low-pressure fuel feed channel in the pump from pressure fluctuations at the inlet of an inlet control valve. Upstream of the inlet check valve, the low-pressure fuel feed channel is connected to a seal chamber surrounding the pumping plunger. Circulating fresh low-pressure fuel through the seal chamber ensures that the pumping plunger and the clearance between the plunger and the pump bore are cooled and lubricated with fuel, even when high pressure fuel is not produced by the high-pressure pump. The low-pressure fuel feed channel is connected to the low-pressure PFI outlet downstream of the seal chamber. This pump configuration provides stable source of low-pressure fuel for a PFI system.
Fuel Pump
A fuel pump includes a plunger that reciprocates, a retainer having a mounting portion attached to a lower end portion of the plunger, and a spring that biases the plunger via the retainer. The mounting portion has an engagement portion that is engaged with a constricted portion formed at the lower end portion of the plunger. A diameter of a circle formed by a corner portion of the engagement portion and an inner peripheral wall of the spring is smaller than a diameter of the lower end portion of the plunger.

A combination outlet valve and pressure relief valve includes an outer housing having a passage. An inner housing is located within the passage and includes a first bore extending thereinto from one end and a second bore extending thereinto from the other end such that the first bore and the second bore terminate at an inner housing wall. An outlet valve assembly is located within the first bore and includes an outlet valve member, an outlet valve seat, and an outlet valve spring grounded to the inner housing wall and biasing the outlet valve member toward the outlet valve seat. A pressure relief valve assembly is located within the second bore and includes a pressure relief valve member, a pressure relief valve seat, and a pressure relief valve spring grounded to the inner housing wall and biasing the pressure relief valve member toward the pressure relief valve seat.
Injector arrangement for diesel engines using slurry or emulsion fuels
The present invention relates to a fuel injection arrangement for a diesel type engine configured to use carbonaceous aqueous slurry fuels. The fuel injection arrangement includes an injector nozzle for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber; a pump chamber housing a fuel pumping element for generating a pressurised fuel flow to the injector nozzle along an injection path between the pumping element and the injector nozzle; and a check valve connected to a fuel supply for regulating and supplying fuel to the injection path via a check valve outlet. A region immediately downstream of the check valve outlet defines an outlet region and the check valve is arranged to expose the outlet region to the pressurised fuel flow to facilitate flushing of the outlet region during fuel flow between the pumping element and the injector nozzle.
