Driveshaft assembly with indexing means
A driveshaft assembly, for example in an Electronic Unit Injector, Unit Injector or Electronic Unit Pump testing machine, wherein an indexing arrangement, such as complementary external and internal splines, enables a cam to be mounted on a shaft at a number of discreet positions, each providing a different offset of a central axis of the base cylinder section from a central axis of the shaft, each position providing a different maximum lift value of a plunger in contact with the cam, directly or via a rocker arm.
Mecha-hydraulic actuated inlet control valve
The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a fluid control device that includes a housing defining a plunger cavity in fluid communication with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a valve having a shaft having a first end and a second end, and a stopper at the first end configured to block a fluid circuit between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet in a first configuration of the inlet control valve and connect the fluid circuit in a second configuration of the inlet control valve, and a plunger configured for axial movement within the plunger cavity, defining a shaft cavity having an inner wall extending from an enclosed end to an open end in fluid communication with the fluid outlet, and configured to accommodate axial movement of the shaft within the shaft cavity.
FUEL PUMP AND INLET VALVE ASSEMBLY THEREOF
A fuel pump includes a fuel pump housing with a pumping chamber; a pumping plunger which reciprocates within a plunger bore; and an inlet valve. The inlet valve includes a valve body having a valve body bore; an inlet passage; and an outlet passage. The inlet valve also includes a check valve which moves between a seated position and an unseated position, wherein the seated position prevents flow through the outlet passage into the valve body bore and the unseated position permits flow through the outlet passage such that the valve body bore is in fluid communication with the pumping chamber. The inlet valve also includes a valve spool which moves between a first position where the valve spool maintains the check valve member in the unseated position and a second position where the check valve member is able to move to the seated position.
Fuel injector having valve stack with vented back-up plate for check seal retention
A fuel injector includes a valve stack forming a seal cavity, and an outlet check extending through the seal cavity. A check seal is positioned within the seal cavity and seals about the outlet check. The valve stack also includes a back-up plate trapping the check seal within the seal cavity, such that a crevice is formed within the seal cavity between the check seal and the back-up plate. The back-up plate has a vent formed therein that fluidly connects the crevice to a drain.
High pressure pump for complex injection engines
A high pressure pump for complex injection engines is provided. A body of the high pressure pump includes a first flow path that transports the low pressure fuel flowing in through the low pressure fuel inlet and a low pressure fuel storage chamber that is disposed in a lower portion of the body to store the low pressure fuel transported from the first flow path. A second flow path transports the low pressure fuel stored in the low pressure fuel storage chamber and a flow control valve is disposed over the low pressure fuel storage chamber to discharge the low pressure fuel, transported through the second flow path, to the pressure unit or the damper disposed in an upper portion of the body based on an opening or closing operation. A low pressure fuel outlet discharges the low pressure fuel, transported through the damper, to a low pressure fuel rail.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A high-pressure fuel pump and a protector are coupled to an outer side of an engine body of an internal combustion engine. A wall plate surrounds the high-pressure fuel pump to protect the high-pressure fuel pump. A cover of the high-pressure fuel pump has a flange. The engine body has a mounting surface. The bottom plate and the flange are fastened to the mounting surface by a bolt with the bottom plate held between the flange and the mounting surface.
Pump unit and method of operating the same
The present application relates to a pump unit for a fuel injection system. The pump unit has a low pressure fuel supply line and a high pressure fuel outlet. A pumping chamber having a plunger is operable to perform a pumping cycle comprising a pumping stroke and a filling stroke. The pump unit also includes an inlet valve having an inlet valve member movable between an open position for permitting the supply of fuel to the pumping chamber from the low pressure fuel supply line and a closed position for inhibiting the supply of fuel from the pumping chamber to the low pressure supply line. An outlet valve is provided in the high pressure fuel outlet. The pump unit also includes a means for latching the inlet valve member in its open position. The present application also relates to a method of operating a pump unit.
Fuel unit pump and internal combustion engine including a fuel unit pump
A fuel unit pump for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel unit pump body, a pumping plunger and a roller tappet for contacting a cam lobe of a rotatable shaft of the internal combustion engine. The roller tappet includes a roller tappet body connected to the pumping plunger, and a cam roller rotatably mounted on a cam roller carrier and defining a cam roller rotation axis. The cam roller carrier is coupled to the roller tappet body and is elastically deformable for aligning the cam roller with the cam lobe.
IMPROVED INJECTOR ARRANGEMENT FOR DIESEL ENGINES USING SLURRY OR EMULSION FUELS
The present invention relates to a fuel injection arrangement for a diesel type engine configured to use carbonaceous aqueous slurry fuels. The fuel injection arrangement includes an injector nozzle for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber; a pump chamber housing a fuel pumping element for generating a pressurised fuel flow to the injector nozzle along an injection path between the pumping element and the injector nozzle; and a check valve connected to a fuel supply for regulating and supplying fuel to the injection path via a check valve outlet. A region immediately downstream of the check valve outlet defines an outlet region and the check valve is arranged to expose the outlet region to the pressurised fuel flow to facilitate flushing of the outlet region during fuel flow between the pumping element and the injector nozzle.
